I have wondered if anyone used a vgt on a dsm... They work great on trucks. I just didn't know how you would handle the control of the blades without the additional plumbing already there. I don't know enough about them to rig up my own controller, but my neighbor across the street has one in his dodge pickup and it is a freakin monster! He has boost about as soon as I do with a 14b, and can outrun me in his truck if it is given time to get a little higher in the rpms. It's an impressive turbo.

That is awesome work! I'm jealous. :thumb:

It better be one hell of a reinforced motor. I was just talking to the guy that owns the truck with one on it, and he says his bullydog says he gets 60 lbs without even really pushing it. He doesn't know the number of the turbo though... He bought it that way.

That guy probably has a larger holset on the cummins...Who knows..It would be badass to use it on a dsm tho...A hx40 spooling like a 16g would be amazing..You better yes have a built motor, but still..The holset guys would loose their lunch if they found this thread..

Old thread, I know, but I wanted to see why it only ran 11.3 @ 130 with 40psi on a turbo that flows that much? That just seems awfully slow. Too much back pressure?

To bring this back, is there any word on why it took 40psi with this turbo to do 11.3 @ 130? I Have a 59lb/min turbo, (which is about that the 351 flows IIRC), and I ran 11.359 @ 130.75 on only 30psi, no nitrous, with a garbage 1.9 60ft. Any insight?

My best guess would be back pressure due to not properly controlling it. I would venture to guess that if it was properly controlled electronically it would have seen much better results.

I wouldn't do it on a manual. I think with a tunable electronic controller like the little black box and an auto awd DSM it would absolutely rock once it was tuned correctly.
