i didn't wanna put up any pics of the interior of my 1997 gsx, we all here on this forum know what the airbag on the passenger side of a 2G looks like....i was just kinda curious about what anyone here would think about what to do with it? i don't want the airbag there, currently it's disconnected and it's just sitting there filling in space, but i wanna know if you have any ideas as to what I can put there other than a T.V. I can't put gauges there b/c that would be dumb, and I am going to be using DSM Link so I won't have an AFC Controller to put there, so i really don't know. All ideas will be taken into consideration

sad thing is, i almost bought that car. Had only seen pictures of the outside and engine bay. Motor has been completely redone and is really good for a 420a. went to check it out in person and was impressed, until i saw the inside. Once I did, I got in my car and drove away. LOL

remove it, make a template, fiber glass mold/carbon fiber your own plate, bolt it in and enjoy not having an airbag for your GF

Mine has tears I wanna replace it with something being that noone rides with me. I don't even have one on my steering wheel

Wouldn't it be difficult to monitor your gauges being on the passenger side of the car? Personally I would do a car-PC setup with GPS/wireless/3G also have all your DSMlink software installed were you can tune on the fly?

I removed my airbag and just put hinges on the cover so it like a secondary glovebox

How easy was it to take out? Steps please I wanna remove mine tomorrow
Drop the glove box and look for 4x 10mm bolts going straight up into the airbag. To remove the bag you will need to hack off the poprivets if you just want the cover part

Motozachi, can you post pics of the hinge work. I already checked out your dash and interior ... super clean job man:thumb:. I am looking for ideas with the passenger side airbag. Thanks!:D

Not really, I thought the same thing at first, but every time I look at the passenger side airbag area I keep seeing angled gauges looking back at me. I figure that if I FG it, I can put angled ports in the airbag to assist with the issue. Besides, it will keep cops from seeing anything more than a 16 year old car that's nicely kept (sleeper):sneaky:! For some reason, everytime I get ready to order my gauges with the A-pillar setup I freeze, ... like its not really the setup I want for my ride. I might at least try it. I found a replacement airbag for twenty bucks so if it doesn't work out too well I can just change out the gauged one for the old one (which will take 10 minutes to switch out tops.) Has anybody seen a custom one like this or have a photo of this type of gauge setup?

I found this one. I like it, but I would like the gauges to be angled toward the driver. This is the interior shot ot the Fast and The Furious Eclipse.

I removed the airbag itself from the outer dash cover part. Right now, the cover is ziptied on. I know that doesn't sound too appealling, but only temporary since I haven't finished the inner part yet. As this eclipse will be built into a rally car, I have built a sheetmetal inner surface and added a bracket to mount my fuel cut-off & battery kill switches, as well as an electronic boost controller, and want to relocate my OBDII port to this location for ease of access for DSMlink. The lid will be hinged and have a locking type latch, and have mini struts to keep it raised while open. I got a few early pics of it in my photo gallery. Just a thought...

I also removed my driver side airbag from the steering wheel airbag cover. No one can tell it's gone unless they push on the middle of the cover.
