Attaching the passenger airbag cover (airbag removed)

Those hinges aren't a bad idea, but they wouldn't work well. Due to the airbag lid sitting flush with the dash, a stationary hinge won't allow it to open properly, which is why I'm designing a sliding hinge so it opens properly and sits flush again when closed.

A stationary hinge can work I think if you slide a part of the hind in between the dash padded material and the plastic\metal it sits on. I plan on trying this tomorrow.

Just got another idea. Take a look at a DSM ashtray. Note how the lid sits flush when closed, and then about a third of it actually goes inside of the box when opened. Similar hinge design can be used to open and close the airbag cover. Some trimming might be required to get rid of part of 'lip' that is in the hole of the dash.

I simply stuck mine on with silicone sealant...
