im starting this forum like a poll. i want to know (and sure others too) how many of you tuners have actually gotten crank walk on there 2g and wanna hear all the people that havent. please just leave a reply if u have gotten it or not. thanx-greatly appreciated

just wanna see how common everyone makes it seem

1/5th of 2nd gen Eclipses have crankwalked... cute... and who knows about the ones that have developed it and didn't get it yet. I'm not about to buy a 2g and build the motor then have it go to shi*. If I can find a 2g with the 6-bolt swap for a decent price then I'm going to stick with an eclipse but if I can't I'm just going to get an Evo8 and call it a day.

Getting ready to open up the low end of my buddy Jeff's 1995 TSi AWD. The stock 7-bolt has 139k on it, the car has had an ACT2600 on it since 99k and has been making passes at the dragstrip regularly since 127k.

No crank movement at all.

I wish there was a legit answer to why some CW and some don't :(. Its so frustrating to do so much damn research on it and no1 has an answer thats proven fact.... I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I just don't wanna put all sorts of money into my car then have the block get destroyed. What kind of bearings does he have? Oil squirters still in? If so are they stock oil squirters?

Bought the car 53,000k's first clutch job, guy said I had CW. He said the previous owner had it aswell (sales manager at Dodge/Chrysler)and replaced the bearings, and I will need a new crank to FIX it. Never was a 6 bolt mentioned. I was new to DSM's at the time so I didn't evev know about CW let alone a 6 bolt swap. This guy was the MAN to see with your DSM though, so I trusted him. My car lasted not even 10,000k's before CW ripped off my crank angle sensor. My car had no problems when I went to get the clutch put it, it got "fixed" and then dies not 10k later.. Needless to say I was happy. I called the guy that "fixed" my car and asked him if there was any sort of warrinty for this? He tells me no one will warrinty a 7 bolt, Well the other DSM guy in town that just ripped my motor out said he will fix it and warrinty it. No deal.. big supprise.
So did I fix the 7 bolt? Nope I want a 6 bolt I tell the guy. Fully rebuilt, all good.
After about 3 months the rod snaps and flys out the side of my motor at 100mph (cruising) I can't tell but to me it looks as though the end cap on the rod lost a nut and then the 1 bolt holding it on lasted a lil while before the wear and tear pulled the rod off the crank and snaped the bolt off. My cap looks more like this ( than this C.
So I bought a 1g FWD all done up for less than my previous rebuilds cost. Guy had just put $8000 into it and I got it for $3000. Swap that motor in my 2g. good idea huh? well a month later I CW'd the 90 laser due to aftermarket oil pump failure.
Pulled the motor out of the laser bought a used block and stole the crank and put it in the laser block, droped it in my 2g. It's now sitting in my garage. Running.... I am nervous.. whats next.. I built this whole one myself though so next time I can fix it easier.
I should also add I am on tranny #2 (needs rebuild now though so #3) and t-case #3 , T-cases were 100% my fault though as I replaced the fluid and the drain bolt backed out.. 2x's :ohdamn:
The good thing is I never get to drive my car so it only has 106000 km or 65865.346 mi. depending on your side of the boarder.

I'd commit suicide. Jk but I'd be so pissed off I wouldn't ever get a clipse again.

How come nobody ever refers to the 94JDM 7 bolt motor? It's what I have and can't ever find good information about it. The way I'm positive its a 94 is because of the power steering pump, but yet its still a 7 bolt imported from Japan...

Mine crankwalked about 3 weeks ago at 101k miles. I was stupid enough to put another crank sensor in it. Instead, I wasted my money and it broke both of them in the same day. It would have a very loud roaring sound above 4 grand. Just glad I got the 6 bolt when I did :D

My 95 GSX just hit 205k miles yesterday and I have not experienced any crank-walk symptoms yet. At least not expecting it to be. :rocks:

I must have the worst luck i have owned 3 7-bolts all have cranked walked 2 so bad it ruined the blocks and now my 2g.

What exactly i the crco dowell kit?

Also how many of these cases happen when the block internals are heavily modded such as forged or billet crank, rods, pistons, ect. and in addition with main studs?
