2G Cost of a used running 4g63?

Anyone know what a running 4g63 engine is worth. Maybe buy a used one but don’t want to over pay for it.

That's a good question. 5-$700? It varies greatly based on how old it is and what exactly comes with the engine.

4g63 is interference. Valve damage depends on how far it jumped. Are you looking for a 4g to replace a 420?

I sold a long block about 2 years ago for $400 to another member here in non-running condition. That included the intake and I think the exhaust mani. No turbo.

Nah thinking bout picking up two 4gs, one to build, maybe one to flip.

Nope! turbo 4g63's will cost you extra as well. A bunch of vehicles including the eclipse had non turbo 4g63s and later 4g64s

That's about right, and 4g64 in the NT spyder... but Mitsubishi built other cars... and Hyundais used mitsu motors for a while also, so you'll see them in various configurations... the 4g63 is kinda like Mitsibishi's version of the Chevy small block - around for years in a bunch of different cars and configurations.

Yes, the 1g came with both a 6 bolt and a 7 bolt n/t 4g63 depending on year.

the N/T 4G63 blocks are still worth building, in fact many 4G63 engine builders prefer to start with N/T blocks to avoid having to delete/block the oil squirters, as long as you build the engine with forged pistons and stronger rods you should be good without the oil squirters.

also only the mid level model 1g dsms had the N/T 4G63, the cheapest base models had the 4g37 sohc 1.8 engine, with the exception of the Eagle Talon which IIRC did not even have the 1.8 motor option until the "93-"94 model years.

Mitsubishi helped start Hyundai back in the 80s, and they ended up copying a lot of Mitsubishi engines, and even shared a few cars with Mitsu the Mitsubishi precise was a re-badgered Hyundai excel.

4G61=G4CR
4G67=G4CN
4G63=G4CP
4G64=G4CS
You can mix and match a lot between these motors for some unique effects both in performance and looks/function for example the 1.6 and 1.8 Hyundai heads have a 43cc combustion chamber volume vs the 47cc dsm heads which will raise compression a little on a 4g63 dsm block, the sonata G4CP black valve covers are the strongest oem covers you can use on a 4G63 I have yet to crack one, but when I do I hope I can afford the billet one from Frontline fab .

From who? So far, mostly everything is $1.5k.
Even all the craigslist adds here in the Puget sound is ridiculous. Not what they were back in the 2000’s.

Just the bare body 4g63s. You are probably looking at complete sets which are off the galant and early evos. Those run you $1.5k for the transmission, engine, ecu and turbo. Any more han that and you are overpaying.

Also I dont trust most craigslisters or facebook people. Some guy wanted $3500 for a rolling body of a 2g talon. Yes our cars are becoming rare, but that doesnt mean the engine or the car command premium prices yet. And I hope they never do
