Coolant issue

Ok currently my eclipse when at operating temps while driving will slowly drain coolant into the overflow until it begins to overheat. Now I thought maybe a head gasket issue but I have no power loss and no milky oil or coolant. Then I thought the thermostat I removed it . The problem persists .any ideas ?

Removing the thermostat is not going to solve your issue. I would look at the radiator cap as the first option. After that, I would pressure test the cooling system. If all check out, I would then try leak-down testing.

the thermostat is designed to add some restriction to coolant flow so the coolant will stay in the radiator long enough to be properly cooled.

alright I'm gonna go get a cap and a new thermo today the old one was kinda worn down anyway

so far so good i got it to op temp and drove it for a good 15 -20 minutes in low gears and didnt seem to flow anything into the overflow the real test will be when i drive it a far distance. just gotta remember bring extra coolant

Check your hoses of course and even water temp sensors. If coolant is pressurized out of the overflow hose, check your cap and your radiator itself. Same thing happened to me and between a new radiator, new hoses, new cap, and new thermostat, it never happened again.
