I would like to keep stock looking head unit in my car but add Bluetooth.

Has anyone used the cd input to add RCAs? This would allow me to attach a Bluetooth module. I've attached a couple pics of head units I am looking at.

Does anyone have the pin outs for the CD input?

Correct, the 13-pin connector. I found the pin out info, it appears to be common across all (most?) Mitsu head units.

It would be great if someone could figure out how to do it with the CD changer input.

I did this on my stock 1997 Saturn SL2 a few years ago, worked great (requires soldering):

How about an FM modulator?
Tucks away, goes inline, you just have to broadcast to it.
(My hobbies include Ham and Modifying CB radios for lots of "extra" stuff).

If I were going the authentic/vintage route this is how I’d go. Or one of those tape adapter things from when I was in high school… those don’t exactly tuck away though ROFL No hacking wires, etc. Not working with THX rated sound booths here… :D

But, I use a single DIN Bluetooth head unit (no CD) with the Metra plug adapters, so no hacking. The OEM tape deck (not connected) is filling the spot below it instead of a pocket. Conversation piece.

It looks like the 3S guys have figured it out. Super simple. I’ll go RCA and use a Bluetooth module powered off the DIN connector. I may try to figure out the closure contact form the tape/CD unit so nothing needs to be inserted.

You'd be taping into the cassette head for that and it would look stock (if we are thinking the same thing). :thumb:

Unfortunately, something like that won’t work for us. Not all DIN connectors are wires the same and you also need a contact closure to activate the input on the head unit.
