 I dont know how you could do that, it would be a custom job that would put a hole in your wallet.

i agree that it is going to put a hole in your wallet but if you got the money go for it, if you really want it. but why would you want to? since there is no interchangeable transmissions with the six speed that will bolt up to your motor, your going to spend a lot of money and i know thats gonna be too much for you to handle unless your some rich guy. but hey if it's something you really want go for it

Nothing to it. All you need is the parts, and they bolt right up.

There is no 6 speed that bolts up to it, and I've never heard of anybody ever getting a 6 speed in a DSM without converting to RWD

Hmm...... I should know this but it'sslipped my mind. The SRT-4, 5 or 6spd? ( i'd go the dodge website, but my laptop is having coniptions and won't let me go there???)

If it's a 6 spd, there you go. IF not, you'll have to wait a few years, then you'll have one.

5 speed

You might contact Prodrive. They specialize in everything unique to the WRC and SCCA ProRALLY Subarus. Tell them your situation and ask if they have an old 6 spd laying around that work on your car. After they stop laughing, they may offer to build you one for the paltry sum of about $70k, which is the cost of a basic WRC transmission.

As for a more affordable option, I think Quaiffe or another high end differential builder used to advertise custom transmissions in like Road&Track or something. They advertised 6 speeds, clutchless shifting and choice of indvidual and final gears. They started at $15,000 if I remember right.

It's a 5spd and you'd still have to make custom mounts to bolt it up, I don't even know if the bolt holes match to the block.

Shhh :shhh: play along. This'll be fun.

you never fail to amuse me!

but uhh i never heard of a 6 speed in a dsm, is there any others?

use the Search please.
there are previouse threads about this.
A 6 speed can be done, in face it has been done. The owner had to take out ALL the syncros to SQUEEZE the extra gear in. In the end he had a 6 speed tranny that would save some gas money but he would have to double clutch into every gear.
So all in all its like a twin turbo DSM, a pretty cool IDEA, but in the long run, not worth it at all.

I think that's folklore. You can't just remove syncros and add gears. I've heard someone mention this before, but not a pic or thread discussing the details of it. Or even who did it. Just here say. If it was successful, then EVERYONE would remember who did it. That sort of accomplishment is more monumental.

It more reminds me of the myth that when doing a NT to Turbo swap that a turbo starter is needed becuase the ring gear is in a different location. NOT the case and false.

Question: Why in the hell do you want 6 gears anyway? just wondering :p

Why do you think? More gears=possibility for better gas mileage and better acceleration.

why was this thread brought back to life by a use the search post? i thought this thing was dead!
