5 speed swap

i just aquired a 98 neon for 40 bucks and its 5 speed. i was told that it will fit my car 420a auto ... true/false

Yes it will work, the motors and trannies are the same. Might need to mod the mounts a little though.

The neon tranny will bolt right in.

Although, it won't work in your case without a few more manual parts. The 1st gen Neon's used a cable clutch, while the DSM's used a hydraulic clutch system. You'll need a bellhousing from a 2001+ Neon, or from a 2gnt.

ok so the main question is with this 98 neon . is it posible to only use the parts off it to make a fully functional 5 speed swap without bringing in any more parts?

No. You'll need various Mitsu parts as Locke referenced (in his links).
