Well, after many hours of prep work I finally finished painting the interior. From the outset I didn't have any experience doing body work, there was a learning curve to this whole project and I came away with a much better understanding of what goes into body work. I wish I could stress the amount of hours I spent prepping, scrapping, grinding on the inside, also removing every plug, screw, nut, bolt, and everything else to make the interior completely stripped...laying the paint is the easy part! There is a reason a quality paint job costs a lot of money! Overall, I'm extremely pleased with how this turned out considering that it was my very first time doing anything like this! I will have to repaint my doors, I wasn't happy how they turned out, but that shouldn't be too difficult. Even though all of my friends and even the paint shop suggested against a higher gloss finish, a part of me wishes I would have got that. Bling bling. LOL But in all seriousness, I'm happy, the car will some day be beat at the track. *fingers-crossed*

Well, I suppose this marks the half-way mark for my interior build. There is still a lot of work to do. I need to reassemble what I took apart. I now see a light at the end of the tunnel. With the paint down, I really have to emphasize how enjoyable it is to work on my car on the inside because everything is so clean. It feels like a brand new car... almost. Wait until my engine bay receives the same treatment with the experience I gained from the interior!
Enjoy!

Wondering this as well, since it looks so nice... would be a shame to have to cover it all back up. :)

To answer the questions. I will leave the carpet out, I will leave the headliner out. The stock dash will go in. My vision for the interior will be based around the Porsche GT3 Cup car. The Cup car is basically a GT3 with bolt on parts, nothing extreme in anyway.
I will install a passenger seat (Sparco Evo). I will eventually get a fire system (SPA). I plan to order some door straps for the Porsche GT3 Cup (red straps in the picture). I'm not sure what I will do with the window switches since my door panels will remain off. I will leave the plastic A and B-pillar moldings in place. I was talked out of my headliner, but want to remain somewhat 'civilized.'

Here's the GT3 Cup's interior. You will see some more similarities as I progress. ;)

Your car is an inspiration. I love what you do to your car!

Thank you! Hearing compliments definitely is motivation, in turn I hope I can help motivate other DSMer's to sick with their projects!

Dude it is beautiful, very nice. If I did not like carpet soooo much thats what I would have done. Great work. The holes are fine, you may need them for something later and won't have to tap another.

Very nice! However I down want to be a downer but I would've filled in many of those holes if your not putting much of the interior back in...shaved

I've heard that before. It would be pointless, a cage is something I still don't have either. The way I see it, the 911 GT3 Cup and GT3 RSR have the holes because that's how the factory makes the bodies before Porsche Motorsports messes with them. Maybe for the engine bay I will shave some things to clean it up, but nothing is set in stone yet. I really like the idea of an improved factory look. ;)
