So I pulled my tranny today, took off the TOB and I noticed something which I am not so sure about. The collar around the input shaft where the TOB rides is grooved down about 1/8 in. on the top side only...bottom is fine. What could cause this and how do I go about fixing it?

The "collar" that the TOB slides on is not replaceable. If it is grooved it was caused by lack of lube on the TOB which gouged it sliding back and forth. You probably noticed that the clutch pedal felt tougher to press and didn't move smoothly.

You can lightly sand it to make it smooth so the new TOB doesn't catch on it. Be sure to put some hi-temp grease on it when reassembling. Just don't over do it or you'll have it all over your clutch. Oh, yea, and only use the plastic-collared TOB.

Yeah thats the prob. The TOB that was on the car was metal. I am going back on with a plastic one. My neighbor was saying they make sleeves that go around the collar just for that purpose. But I am not sure how much this guy actually knows. I am probably just going to go back together with it once the clutch gets here. Not much I can do. :|
