Is that for the "Plasma Booster" or the "Plasma Direct" COP?

The way I read it, it is both. The plasma booster looks very similar to the MSD Stacker type of thing.

hey guys i just got my coils the other day (all 4 for $50):D anyways to those who might not know Oriely Automotive does sell the 300m coils for $35 a piece brand new w/ a life time waranty.. my 1st question is can anyone send me a link to the VFAQ for the coil on plug?? i click on it and it doesnt seem to be working, anyways i have a 90 tsi awd w/ lotts of mods and the guy i bought my coil packs from sent me the 3 wire connector and my 90 has the 4 wire connector, and i was wanting to know exactly what wires to use now and if i have to put a different transitor (if thats what its called).. what ever the part is called that is right by the stock coil packs etc. and i got to read a couple of the posts on here about these 4 packs and why are people taking the 300m pacs apart?? and do i HAVE to cut the boot that goes on the plug at all? sorry for all the newbie questions, this is my daily driver and i want to do this conversion in a weekend or so and do it RIGHT the first time.. thanx and KEEP THE BOOST UP!!!! :dsm: :thumb:

The dont have the direct coil on plug out for our cars. But the site says to call them and they can basically come up with something.

Maybe they figured their plasma booster was good enough.

Looking at the dyno stuff. The coil on plug showed some bad ass results.

I am pretty sure if a few people wanted the setup we could get a group buy going on and they could start making the direct setup.

umm i DID read the entire thread and i didnt see anything saying that the COP'S DID work (4 coils) yet and i didnt find any wiring diagrams, and i couldnt open the VFAQ page... and i was wanting to know if someone could send me a link or something to get to a VFAQ if there is still one... why would i just post on here and not read anything about them???? have a nice day :D

That's my point. It seems like nobody has gotten it to work. So I was wondering why you would try and put a system together following these directions if they don't work.

well i HAVE found people that have gotten them to work but i cant seem to get a schematic or wiring diagram from anyone.. but i think im just gona sell the coils w/ the plug i have and go w/ TEC3 stand alone.. i talk to don at Polk Performance and he said he has had some cars come in his shop w/ the 4 coils, and he has just took them off cause they are a headache. and on top of everything else i have a 90 and its harder to get the coils to work on a 90 because of the 4 wire plug.. its said to be easier to hook up on 91-92 w/ the 3 wire plug.. SO IF ANYONE WANTS 4 GOOD 300M COILS W/ THE PLUG FOR THE HARNESS IL SELL MINE.

Ack! Why would you get a TEC3?? Get the AEM EMS! I am trying to find the most powerful COP on a stock car and try to get them to work on the EMS. I will be running sequential ignition so I am hoping I won't be running into the problems that the others' did. The way it is sounding I may see if I can get the audi 1.8t COP to work.

call don at Polk Performance 501-847-7223 and he will tell you why you shouldnt run the AEM.. they are a PAIN to tune, and you end up not using alot of the connections that come w/ it.. the TEC3 comes w/ crank trigger, 2 seperate coil packs and it is ALOT better for future mods.. i was planning on running the AEm to until i talked to don he is pretty good friends w/ Shepherd and the only reason he is running so good w/ it right now is cause he ISNT using alot of the connection off the AEM and its a real pain to tune but he also has unlimited amounts of time to spend on the dyno.. and i dont, right now i have the VPC, SAFC combo and i HATE it!!!!! and the TEC3 is around $2200 new w/ crank trigger and all sensors for a 90 talon awd.. im not knocking the AEM its just that i dont have a tone of time on my hadns to spend on a dyno like all these other guys .. let alond the extra $$.. so to each his own.. im not set on the TEC3 but im steering in that direction from the AEM.... KEEP THE BOOST UP!!!!!:thumb:

I got my AEM EMS for $1250 and it wasn't very hard to tune. Get a wideband for $275 and you are set! It is running pretty good right without the wideband in even. I am putting the wideband in this weekend and I will let you know what happens. There is great support for the EMS and it will do alot. I am going to be switching to a MAP sensor, and sequential coil on plug ignition very soon. Datalogging on the EMS can go up to 250/sec. There were a few growing pains with it, but things are getting sorted out pretty good now.

Well that sucks. I spent 1 (one) month trying to buy a TEC3 system. Wish I had known about Polk then. I called every authorized TEC dealer according to Electromotive about the new TEC3 system and their response.....ummm we know nothing about that thing, but if you would like to buy a TEC2 then we can talk. Sorry, but that just kind of pissed me off because I had the money in hand to buy the 3 system, but because of poor product representation I went other directions. But the TEC3 system is simply put...awesome. Maybe someother time and project.

Did you try vishnu performance? Shiv knows/sells alot of tec-2's and tec-3's. He's pretty busy with all the suby stuff he does.

I do believe that is one of the shops I tried, but I think it was either wrong number or no answer. Oh well, I like my Haltech and maybe when I have the money again to step up to the TEC system I will try again.

Does anyone with one of the COP's systems that didn't work right want to sell it? I could make my own, but I figured if someone has already done everything I would rather give them some money than the junkyard.

You can have mine no charge. I would like to see somebody get this to work, because it's over my head  .

P.M. me an address and I will get it shipped tomorrow.

Um I hate to tell you this but you still have to tune the tec3 to get your engine to run properly. Anything which replaces the stock ecu is not going to plug in and give you 100 extra h.p. You will still need a dyno to get the highest performance from your engine. Same as the aem except it cost about 1k more.

Heh, anyone else want to give away their coils? :) I'd be happy to take them off your hands.

Do you still have a set Jydog? I'll even come pick them up.

I got the set from Jydog. He is the man! I am going to see if I have time to install them next weekend.

There are a few things on the 300M coils that are really cheesy. The spring used to move the electricity from the coil to the plug has a poor connection on both ends. The top just sits on a screw (who uses a screw as a high voltage connector??) and the bottom has only one coil of the spring touching the top of the plug.

I am going to solder on the screw on cap from a sparkplug on the bottom of the spring, so I will have a good connection there, just trying to figure out something for the top connection.

hmm...just to let you guys know COP was developed because spark plug wires were always warrentied which lost companys tons of money, not because they deleiver so much more spark

what about nology's plug wires that incorperate capcitors right in the boot, seems like they will work almost as good and you wont have to run around cutomizing things. summit has them

Nology = marketing gimmick. They work almost as good as stock wires. You would be better off sticking the Nology sticker on your car for the +5hp sticker effect, and putting in a set of new stock plug wires. They certainly won't give you any of the positive effects that people are trying to get with these coil on plug setups.

Yeah, having a capacitor after the cap doesn't make any sense. It would lessen your spark energy. A cap before the coil would be good, but afterwards it would be worse than not having anything.
