My clutch went out on my 97 spyder gs. The transmission has been switched out. I believe it’s the transmission for the 2.0 turbo.
    (kf5m332spzt)

So, what clutch and flywheel do I get? One for a 97 spyder 2.4L? Or one for a 2.0 turbo? Also, everywhere I look, I can’t find a clutch and flywheel kit for the 2.4l. Only for the 2.0 nt and 2.0 turbo. Anyone know where I can get the kit?

I’m assuming the one for the 2.4L, but I just want to be sure.

    Thanks.

Clutch kit for a 2.0 turbo will fit and so will a 7 bolt FWD flywheel.

I found a stage 1 2.0 Turbo FWD clutch kit with 7 bolt flywheel. That going to work?

And now that I think of it and do research on here, I have another question...

I got a set of cv joints for my spyder. Are they going to work if the transmission is for the 2.0 turbo?

Hard to give a definitive 'yes that will work' without knowing what it is. 'Stage 1' tells us nothing.

As for the c/v's.. the F5M31 (Spyder GS) and F5M33 (GST) axles are not interchangeable.

I’ve been researching clutch kits. Is a XTD stage 4 going to be overkill? looking at the xtd 1700 series 6 puck kit with 11lb flywheel.

Or should I just stick with a exedy pro-kit with fx chromoly flywheel.

It’s just my daily driver but plan on upgrading over time.

It's definitely overkill for a stock 4G64.. but it'll fit just fine. Only thing that you might want to take into consideration is that it's an unsprung 6 puck disc.. unsprung discs aren't as comfortable in a daily as a sprung disc (takes away some of the 'jerk' when the plate makes contact, makes it a bit more comfortable for a daily).

An unsprung disc for the street, not only is undesirable, but will put more strain in your drivetrain.

From what I’ve read, the clutch and pressure plate are not the issue when it comes to compatibility, it’s the flywheel. But, I believe I read something about the turbo flywheels being raised and the non turbo flywheels not raised... I just don’t want to get the wrong one.

The 420a flywheels are not stepped, the 4G64 is. That kit should bolt up just fine.

Can’t wait to install it!

Also got the mesh on the bumper, new fog lights ordered. Water temp gauge is ready to be hooked up. And a t fitting for the oil pressure gauge.

2939D366-FF3C-44E0-BE46-C7F44DEE8DA9.jpeg I ordered the OEM throw out bearing... it doesn’t look like the one that was in there... the one that came in the kit looks identical to the one that was in the transmission... now I’m confused....which one should I use?

    i would use the oem
they could be different because mitsubishi has an updated part that is smaller (not sure how its measured) than the original. its also went from (4g6_) AWD and FWD having a different TOB to all using the same bearing

they changed to the resin bearing surface because the steel was wearing the aluminum shaft on the tranny LOL

Well, I found this while researching it... what would happen if someone put tranny fluid in there?
