I've searched the forums and haven't been able to find a similar issue.
So here's my problem; there is a nasty grinding noise when I release me clutch pedal in first gear at a normal pace. I have no problems shifting, no pop outs or blocks. If I release the pedal VERY slowly in first, there's no grind only if I release it at a normal to quick pace. Once the pedal is up no issues or noise.
Brand new master and slave clutch cylinders replaced by me no more than 200 miles ago.
I was told the clutch had been recently replaced when I purchased the car. (I'm Uncertain of this)
My question is does this sound like a clutch issue or possibly a problem with the transmission?
Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hmm. It sounds like it could be two things. Either your clutch is not aligned correctly when your quick shifting, or you may have an issue with your TOB. No way to be sure though unless you drop your trans and take a gander in there. But I would do so soon before anything more costly breaks :/

I mean it could also be something like an improperly bled clutch system, a pedal issue, it could be tons of things. If you wanted to just double check something I'd re-bleed the clutch system just in case. I just read you replaced the slave and master cylinders so i'd start there. 90% of clutch related issues stems from those two components. If any air gets into the system it can lead to issues like improper disengagement or abnormal clutch wear.

Side note, i used to live in New Braunfels LOL. Small world.

I bled the system several times to make sure all the air was out. No problems shifting at all. Only the issues of taking off in first. Looks like I have some work to put in.

Just moved to new braunfels at the beginning of the year. Pretty chilled place to live, lot of outdoor activities.

It sounds like your rear motor mount or roll stop mount if I am not mistaken you use the same mount as the gst. When worn it allows the mount frame to sit on the crossmember when you accelerate allowing all the engine vibration to transfer through the body sounding like grinding.

All the motor mounts are new, I replaced them when I first bought the car because they were completely torn apart. I've only put about 300 miles on the car since I got it. I'm planning on pulling the clutch and flywheel this weekend to see if there may be an issue with either one. My crossmember was loose and it would give me a nasty rattle and grinding noise, but I've checked that again and it's still tight. So unfortunately I think I have to pull the tranny. :ohdamn:
