Hey,
I bought my car over a month ago and this want happening. Now when even i let my foot off the gas to switch grears, i hear a fairly loud *clunk* sound, thats the only thing i can describe it as, *CLUNK* and its like right as my foot comes off the gas...could it be somethig it the TB, or my waste gate...i think its usually only when boosting, but not positive. Thanks

Oh and could someone answer my valve cover Q a few posts down LOL ? thanks

have your axles checked, even if they look fine they might be bad. my car was doing something similar to what u described and it was my left axle that was going out on me.
i had a shop rebuild my axle, and the noise stoped.

ok thanks, is there a way to check that visually, or do i have to goto a shop.

Thanks

Wayne

well sometimes you can tell by looking at it, if the boot is ripped than there is a chance that the axle might be bad. but my boots were in perfect condition yet the axle was no good. when my car started doing that sound i had no idea what it was, but my fried who is a mechanic said that it was the right side axle and he was right, when i took it to the shop the guy asked me if i was sure that it was bad cause it looked fine and i said yes im sure, he got it rebuild and that did the trick.
hopefully this helps you. if its not the axle than check the motor mounts

yeh im kinda gettin the feeling its the axle cuz my CV joints are eating shit.
I'm low on funds right now so i was just going to replace the boot...but i guesse i'll just do the full axle swap...its not that much more anyways.

Thanks guys

you can check them buy grabbing the shaft and check play in the shaft. If you can push it towards the tranny or the wheel 1/2 inch or less its ok. If its anymore its bad. Also if moves front to back side to side its bad.

I am having a similar problem.. I was driving on the interstate one.day& heard a loud sound likensomething broke& then all of.a sudden. When accelerating it makes a deep sound you can barely hear&then when letting off the gas it sounds like what you described.. almost like a thudding. But then as soon as I accelerate again a different noise. I've been.told to change the axle. I changed the side I thought was making the sound& didn't work&changed wheel beerings , which
It's not.that either buy it's kind of.similar& I noticed yesterday it had quit making.the sound then all of.a sudden I heard that sound like something getting off track &that same loud sound again? I just don't get it. My husband said he thought it was the axle until he was with me&& heard it he is very smart&educated& knows a lot& can't figure out what it is. I don't have the money at the moment to really change it.until it fixes it, but.have you had a chance to replace it&see if it fixed it? I am curious. It is making my gas mileage terrible.. I do know my rotors are shot would this have.anything to do with it? Sorry I am asking a question on your post. I am trying to get familiar with this. Site Lol

Could be the carrier bearings on the driveshaft being worn.

The carrier bearings on a 420a car? WTF

A thud when letting off the gas could be the front or rear roll stop mounts. Open the hood and try to rock the motor front to back to see if it moves easily or you hear the thud when you move it. You can also inspect the mounts to see if they are old and worn out or not.

Now for the roar you get when driving You can jack up the front end and spin each tire to see if you can hear the noise
