I'm wanting to order cams and a meth kit in the morning, and i was wondering who would be the nearest recommended vendor to Nebraska that would have the FFWD cams in stock?

I don't know if there's a way to look up vendors near you so I'm sorry if i missed that.

Also, what's everyone's opinion on the FFWD 264/272 setup?

I've got to get my cams bought and in, meth kit bought and installed, get my springs and install my shocks and coil overs and have it tuned before the first week of next month so i can get on the dyno, get the fine tuning done and then get a printout of what I'm going to be running everyday on pump gas + meth ... Hoping for a 425 HP+ daily driver, but we'll see, i'd be happy right at 400

I plan on ordering ALL the remaining things i need in the morning, so 99gst_racer I'll be calling you for springs, devils own can expect a call for a meth kit and now i just need a vendor for cams!

Looking for 23-24 PSI, with 22 -24* timing at 11:1AFR and see how far these cams and meth kit can take me on a daily driver.

Anyone know where the power starts to fall off on these particular cams? I can't find any real info on them, but maybe I'm not looking in the right area. The internet has never been my strong point. But i'd like to know how high i will be able to rev these cams, i've pushed stockers into 7500 RPM but the power had fell off already, i was just staying in it to avoid a shift at the end of the drag strip

Give Darren at FFWD a call or email him and im sure he could tell you the specs and whatnot on the cams. You could also talk to him about getting a rush delivery but I thnik his shop is pretty close to you.

Thanks, i'm going to call him tomorrow, it sucks his phone hours are only 2-5PM, that means i have to order them with the wifey sitting right there so i can hear about spending money on my credit cards while i'm clsing my 2 businesses and waiting to go to start to work for the government on the 19th of february LOL

Oh well, worse thigs have happened, i'll just order the rest of the stuff early in the day so it doesn't seem like so much, plus ill have the money to pay off a LOT of bills with the over time paying 26.25 an hour and averaging about 15 - 20 hours of it a aweek... that's why i want my car done before i go to work there, because i'll never get to work on it after i start. So i want it built so those trips o and from work are the best they can be, and hopefully i can buy some new slicks and get back out to the 1/4 mile in KC some weekend. LOL LOL

call Hung at ExtremePsi, he always has them, and for the right price he can overnight them too you too :thumb:

You do know that you can call earlier in the day and leave a message, then HE can call you back. You can also e-mail him your information and parts you are looking for so he can have more information before contacting you directly. I have done business with Darren several times over the years, and this information is wise to follow when working with him.

Good luck!

I almost hate to take the chance, beause if i leave come one a phone messege about parts and they don't call back, i don't order from that place EVER again. SO hpefully the messege i leave will be clear enough for them to know what # to call me back at.

The reason i am this way is because in my business if i don't return the calls, some one else usually gets the work. So i expect other business owners to take their calls just as seriously or they obviously dont' need my money. At least that's how i look at it.

But here goes nothing, i'm going to call and leave a messege now.

Well, great news, Darren at FFWD returned my call at the end of his day, he said that he normally didn't take phone orders but because it was the end of the day and i needed some tech input on the cams he'd make an exception. I ended up on the phone with him for almost an hour (great guy to chat with) And i got my cams ordered. I went with 264/272 because my goals are a Little different than most, and I'm not going much further in my build, just fine tuning and fully utilizing the engines and turbo systems full capabilities while keeping it as streetable as possible and able to hold sustained high RPM with out breaking a sweat. Plus i wanted the added very bottom end torque and the slightly faster spool of the shorter duration intake cam for city traffic.

If anyone from experience has had the 264 on the street and felt it just wasn't enough and went to the 272 let me know so i can get an email in ASAP...not that I'm doubting my choice in bumpsticks, but he about had me talked into 272/272 until i explained my over all goals with him.

I also talked to Chance over at Devilsown and got that taken care of as well, again another great guy to talk to and easy to deal with.

I cannot for the life of me remember the other thing besides springs i was going to order for the engine to extract a little more from what's already there. I'm stumped.

im running the DKS 264/272 and i love em! Great midrange and topend opened up a lot more than stock. My small 16g feels like it can pull way past 7k, but thats still where i shift at. I got the very last set from xtremepsi before they implemented the core exchange $40 thing. Idle sounds good, doesnt sound like stock, but also doesnt sound like a big lopey v8, its a very nice rumble. Ive been running open DP for like 2 months and it sounds like a racecar now ! haha

What turbo/engine setup do you plan to run the cams with? I was stuck at 14.0 for a while and i installed these cams and tuned for the extra airflow and dropped down to a 13.5. That was 2 seasons ago before i rebuilt my motor, they feel even better this last year with my new built motor. I went 13.7 at 10psi and 12.9 at 15psi. This next season im going to max out my small 16g, then upgrade to a larger turbo. i would have maxed out the turbo last season, but my 190k 3-but gave up. This next season i'll be ready for the track many times with my 4-bolt!

Good to hear darren took care of ya! you wont be disappointed! I know im probably going to keep these even when i upgrade to a larger turbo as the low/mid range did not suffer a bit, and the topened opened up so much!

would you say you gained any low end at all, i guess i can't judge spool times between our cars though either. I'm making 8 lbs towards my 19-20 while you're fully spooled fighting torque steer. LOL(i miss my 16 g , it was so much fun to drive)

honestly, i was expecting a little low end loss, but i think the entire powerband as a whole improved in some way with most emphasis on themid to top end (4k+) nothing was lost 2500-4000, definatelt gained something in there, but that is a good cam matchup for my turbo setup, so with a larger tuurbo you might lose a little low end, but probably nothing significantly noticible

WEll, they;re on thier way, 264/272 it is. I will report back hopefully with dyno findings is i can get in for one baseline pull cheap enough, i want to make a baseline, then tune the setup W/ cams to teh same AFR's and see teh full effect at the same timing and AFR.

Believe me, you guys will know when they are here, then i'll be putting them in ASAP. so you won't have to wait long
