My mods are in my profile. I have been looking at import evolutions 450hp ball bearing Garrett 5031 I believe. Its $899. I also have been looking at a turbonetics t3/to4e 60 tirm with .63 a/r ex housing. It says it should support 49lb/m. I have a 5 bolt discharge o2 housing from victory performance, but I am looking into getting a 4 bolt discharge because I heard it flows better. Any input on 4 bolt vs. 5 bolt would also greatly be appritiated. Thanks

I was in a similar place as you and actually decided to go with a PTE 5031... which seems to have the 450whp max. It seems like like i probably won't hit the 400 mark without using race gas and dsmlink or some other tuning tool.

As far as turbo recommendations, a GT30R / 35R would be a great one to get or even a FP3052 / FP3065. Those would get you the HP numbers your looking for on pump gas. I think you'd need to give us a little more info for anybody to give you more specific advise. You'd definitely would need bigger injectors. 720cc's are good for the 50 trim and you have the other mods to support it (fuel pump and fpr).

There are the 60-1 or the like turbos, but if you're going to hit those higher HP numbers, why not go with the GT30/35R and be done with it.

Hope this helps...

I am not sure what information you want me to give. I want to run as close to 400 on pump as possible. Should I change my setup for a 4 bolt housing, or keep a 5 bolt? I have 93 octane pump gas. I tune with dsmlink. anything im forgetting please ask

The 50 trim with a 4 bolt .63 A/R turbine housing would be a great choice. It's definitely capable of making 400whp on pump with good supporting mods and good tuning.

thanks for your encouraging words. I will be getting the 50 trim BB, but I dont know about 4 bolt or 5 bolt. Will it keep me from making as much power, or does it cause more lag or what? how inferior is the 5 bolt?

I also wanted to ask if the .63 4 bolt housing has a 2.5" or 3" oulet. If it comes with a 3" than I need to find a different o2 housing than Victory Performance because they only make 2.5" o2 housings. If they do, where can I get a good 4 bolt o2? Assuming I have no good fabrication guys.

Could I make 400Whp on a 50trim garrett bb with a .63 5 bolt housing?

get that evo 16g set up slowboy offers. Its dynoed at more then 400hp!! Its only $598 and $199 more for the 2g install kit. Thats what i'am thinking of getting.

if im not mistaken, that was on a built 2.4. HOWEVER i could be wrong. there is a thread on the other site about it i think

How would a GT3561 turbo be? It says up to 680hp on www.dejontool.com (only asking because I am looking for 400whp as well and currently have this turbo)
I believe the price is $869 and you get the anti surge cover and can get a non divided housing so you will not get boost creep

Just to clarify, are we no longer talking about bolt on turbos? Otherwise this talk of 4 or 5 bolt housings is irrelevant.

I was never looking for a bolt on turbo, because as you can read in my profile, I have a turbonetics manifold, and my whole setup is based around a non bolt on turbo.

There is in fact a difference in a 4 bolt and a 5 bolt garrett housing. Since the 5 bolt has the provision for the wastegate it disturbs the flow of exhuast out of the housing. The 4 bolt however just comes straight out, also the discharge port (while still 2.5") is centered with the shaft, where as on the 5 bolt its offset from the shaft because of the space for the wastegate (which I do not need, so why have it?). These flow properties can greatly affect VE and power output.

For that reason I went with the Garrett 5031 CHRA BB for 899 from importevolution.com, with the 4 bolt .63 a/r housing. I also had to order a new 4 bolt o2 housing from victory performance. I was super impressed with their work, and decided they deserved my business again. I like when the exhaust is an easy bolt up affair.

I am anxious to see if the spool times are that much different. I have heard great things about the BB turbos. I will be putting the car on the dyno hopefully at AMS in chicago by the end of the month. I may even pay them to tweak my dsmlink tune for a bit more power. Hopefully we will see 400whp on pump is possible on my setup. If not, ill just keep trying.

Get a 30R. I speak from experience that 30R will easily gain you 400+whp on mustang dyno so we are talking higher numbers with dynopack or dynojet and it doesn't stop there so if you want there is still more power to produce. Many say 'O-M-G 30R LAGGGSSZ' but they all talk without any experience. You don't need a built engine for a 30R but a set of cams would help and thats all you need.

well I went with the garret 50 trim bb from import evoultion. I also got the 4 bolt o2 housing. We will see what happens in a couple weeks.

I am kinda afraid to put 400+ to the front wheels, but I got an AWD talon shell for the donor drivetrain parts. If I cant stand the FWD (which I love right now) anymore, AWD will follow soon.

I think that I wouldnt enjoy my daily driving nearly as much with awd however. Im not the type that goes around practicing my launch at every light anyway. I think if I can go WOT in third without spinning through it I will be keeping my FWD, and turn the donor car into a 6 bolt awd 2g and paint it to match my FWD perfectly ( always wanted twin cars, dont know why )

Who thinks I should make the AWD a RWD with a welded front differential, and plugged front axle holes?

I think that with the weight distribution of these cars (56%-44% i think), and their tendency to lift on the front end that a RWD talon would throw down nasty style.

Well, I still havent gotten the turbo on there... I have been waiting for 3 weeks + on my o2 housing. Victory Performance has not answered my calls, returned my messages or emails, or updated me one time during the process. I have left about 5 voice mails begging for him to call me, but he wont. I think hes ripping me off, but Im giving it until friday this week. After that I plan on going with a Forced Performance o2 housing, and setting it up with the vband. Any other solutions greatly appritiated. I need a 4 bolt garrett discharge to stock fitment downpipe. The only one I could find was victory performance, and forced performance was vband but could work with a small custom adapter from 4 bolt to v-band flange.

As for the dyno, I will definately be on the fourms bragging once I see some numbers.

As for psi??? Im planning on starting at 18 and going up bit by bit until I cant tune the knock out anymore. Id rather find out what my setup will handle than guess. I really dont know where it will fall, but I promise I wont be afraid of all the frat boys in mustangs.

As for the people saying GT30... isnt that kinda inefficient for this setup? I would think that I wouldnt been running in the efficent part of the curve... but I please tell me if I am wrong. Im just ignorant and trying to learn. Thanks
