i got a 98 gsx and im looking into upgrading the turbo i want a turbo that is on the small side but can boost up to 20 to 30 pounds of boost...i also dont want to break the bank...any idea's?

30psi from a small turbo and stay efficent? id have to say the e316g, it works well at around 25psi or so and spools really quick. If you still want more boost, IMO I would got with an hx35. Its a bit bigger in size, but spools extremely close to the 16g but works well at levels above 25psi, and its easy to find at a very decent price!

well there is a chance my turbo is no goo and no i dont have any mods other then a bov but when i get a the new turbo ill be getting a boost controller with it and onlky boosting 7 to 10 psi untill i can get a fuel pump, injectors....ect

Stock, you will be fine at 15psi, but I would not go higher until the supporting mods. Also, a 16g is a great turbo, or a tdo5 20g (which I suggest).

One you haven't really started your overall goals. But if your want to ease of straight bolt on, a 14b is and upgrade from the t25, but won't give you good efficent.power in the mid to high boost levels. Id say 16g, but if you want high boost you need more fuel, and something to log to ensure the safety of your motor. Once you have that and still want three reader of bolt on, id go with the FP68HTA! ;)

Yup, +1 on the hta68, for an exciting street car. A hx35 will be about as expensive once everything is said and done, and the hta68 will give better street driveability, as well as performing on par with a 20g, but fitting on the stock manifold.

thanks for the help everyone i think im going to go with the 16g...sounds like its what im looking for....now does anyone know of any for sale in the northern new jersey area?

I see it hard to beleive nobody mentioned the FP big t28..It flows aboutt he same as a small 16g and offers great spool..And for the 2g guys it does require an install kit.. More pricey than a used 16g..But still a hell of a turbo..

Forced Performance Turbochargers: DSM FP Big 28 Turbo

the downside to a t28, is yeah it spools great, but doesnt flow as well as a e316 or a big16.. and double the price... to be honest you could get a homemade hta68 (Big 16g housing, 20g wheel) for cheaper then a t28, or for like 150 more, you get the actual hta68 instead of the t28

That is very true..The t28 is more pricey, and doesn't flow as well as the big 16g or evo3..The t28 flows about the same as a small 16g, at twice the price..So price is always an issue for us dsmers.. But as a direct bolt on with no price being the issue, not a bad turbo..

For price then maybe a big 16g or evo3, or even a small 16g with install kit, would still come in below the price of the t28..

The 68hta should not be in the same catagory as the other 16g's I think...I really dig the 68hta..Although price is always downer for both the 68hta and t28..

Does anyone else have a concern about the e316g holding 30 psi to redline?

If anyone does take it to redline on 30psi..They should chime in..I'm sure Justin could answer that question..

Correct me if im wrong but a 16g will not hold 30 psi to redline maybe spike then taper off.

You can get it to 30psi but yes it may fall a few rpms before redline, but i stated that the e316g is a great turbo for 25-30psi! And mentioned the HX35 for anything of 30psi. I personally dont think he knows what 30psi fells like seeing hes still on the t25, and think the 16g at 24-26psi would be a great load of fun and performance, comparing it to the t25 its like sex!
But again, you MUST upgrade fuel and have some way to tune and log!!
