For the 2007 season, I have been updating the suspension of the car. To help the rear end of the car, I have installed a DG Industries Chassis Strengthening Bar. This is a relatively inexpensive mod ($173.00) to help with the body roll in the light rear end of my TSi. With some of the weightt loss the car has been going through in the rear end, it needed some help to try and stay flat. (coilovers are next in line)
The installation was very easy and only took around 20 minutes or so. What it does basically is attach to the two upper rear seatbelt mounts. You can actually keep the rear seat belts in and fully operational if you would like, although I do not have them in. The assembely of the bar itself is very simple and the instructions that are included are easy to follow.
You first take off the seatbelt covers to expose the mounting bolt and remove those.
Next you mount the Clavis to the seatbelt mount with the factory seatbelt bolt.
Then assemble the bar itself by threading the mounting eyelit and jam nuts into the bar itself.
Now I attached the bar to the mounting clavises.
Lastley tighten the mounting clavises and the bar itself to the clavises.
And here is the finished product installed.
After the installation, I had my first event of the year in the SCCA. I actually took the bar out for 2 of my runs and then put it back in for the other 4. There was a noticable differnce in the slalom sections as well as the sweepers on the course. The rear end of the car did not seem to want to roll as much as it did without the bar installed. Personally, for the money 2 performance ratio. This is a very good product.
