changes with car after 1g BOV install

Alright so today I installed a 1g bov on my 97 GST. Everything works fine and the bov sounds way better than that POS plastic one but I have noticed a change in the car that concerns me. Before the install the boost would spike to 15 lbs and drop to arounf 13-14 lbs up until 6200 rpms and then would fall to about 11 (courtesy of the stock T-too small), but after the install the boost will spike to 20+ lbs (my gauge only reads up to 20 lbs) and will the hold at 17-18 lbs and fall to 15 lbs around 6000 rpms. Now I have read that the max safe boost I can run is only 15-16 lbs, so the question is will this boost spike hurt anything and if so how can I fix it? I have all my upgrades listed in my profile but Ill list them again. all the free mods that can be done, stage 2 clutch, fidanza lightweight flywheel, aftermarket boost gauge, K&N air filter, all resonators and cat removed, a hacked airbox, and a 1g BOV. Also, would rewiring the fuel pump be a good idea even though I dont have much done?

mine did that too its because well it was for me anyway that the plastic one leaks i installed an mbc and it took the problem away after setting it to 14lbs

thats because your plastic bov was leaking at past 15 psi and thats why it was not holding boost like the 1g does.
these spikes will not hurt anyhting if its for a split second or so, however to be in the safe side rewire your fuel pump and get a good gas like 95 octane or so .

if you are really worried from these spikes then get a MBC and lower the boost a bit . i have like your set up almost and i ran all the time 15 psi. an MBC will help in here
