So i just installed a 14b on my 96 yesterday. I prmed the turbo by pulling the engine 20amp fuse, and i pulled the plug for the coil. I turned it over 2 or 3 times for 5-10 seconds each. I then plugged both the clip and the fuse in. My car then required me cranking it for about 20 minutes on and off before it would start. Now i get random stalls when i clutch in to brake or coast. I dont know why this owuld happen, its never done it before the install. I checked for vacuum leaks, none; i checked for any ignition plugs that might be unplugged, none; i also checked for spark in my plugs, good in all 4. Im stumped. Why would my car just randomly stall out on me, where should i start looking to solve this problem.

Also, the 14b seems to pull hard at higher RPMs, but seems fairly dormant down low. Is this normal?

Either way im happy with the new turbo, just have a few kinks to work out.

Did your wastegate area have any cracks in it? if it has some nice cracks then the exhaust gas is getting buy and slowing down spool which would make it feel sluggish down low like mine :( but once I hit full boost at like 3200 :| its good to go :D

If you've got time to kill...
check to ensure your battary is tightly hooked up, I am guessing you went ahead and unhooked it before doing any engine work... - if you didn't unhook it before doing the install make sure you didn't blow any fuses (check engine bay fuses CAREFULLY - look closely) if its having problems starting make sure that your car is getting fuel also.

Fuses are always first to check I know in my 1G when the alernator fuse blew the car ran like entire crap as if it was on its last leg (stall problems, random lights, random things shutting off in the car)

Recheck the simple, even simple things in these cars can throw everything off.

With my current tired, old 14B on my 1G I think its more of a bottom end turbo then anything else. mine spools around 2500, and at 13PSI its good for first, second, and somewhat into 3rd - but 4th it simply seems to just die off.

Checked all the fuses under the hood, those all check out. Battery is a year or so old (i dont remember exactly when it was replaced) and the posts seem on to be making a good connection too.I know the car is getting fuel because when it wouldnt start my garage smelled quite rich. I know its getting spark too, checked every plug wire with a timing light. The MAS is plugged in and im not venting, i have hose clamos tightened as far as possible on both sides of the recirc hose.

I'll see if i cant pull up how old the battery is and i'll double check all of the fuses.
