hey guys, i'm new to the forum but i'm an avid member of cobaltss.net. I have a 2006 G85 Cobalt SS S/C with mods but this question is about my girlfiends car.

She has a 1997 eclipse rs with 420a. It is the base model RS automatic transmission, manual locks and windows. We got the car last summer for 2grand and its in very good condition. She has had a misfire in the engine since last summer, if the car is started then shut off, you can pull the plugs an there will be fuel on the plugs, if i remember correctly it was only on three of the four plugs. I replaced spark plugs and wires and it did not correct the problem. The car runs pretty good its just it has that CEL and a lil smoke out the exhaust which i think is from the unburnt fuel or excessive fuel to the plugs. I am thinking its a coil pack at this point but are there other things it could be? I'd like to get her car runnin good an start puttin a few mods on it for her. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. ~Kevin

On a side note her fans do not turn on when the engine reaches temp so she's been using her a/c fans to keep the car cool, thats all the problems she's been havin but I believe this is unrelated. Also the car has around 150k miles I think on it.

Problem-CEL misfire (car runs good though) and fuel on spark plugs (3 of 4)

Possible Solutions?- Coil Pack, o2 sensor...(wires an plugs have already been replaced)

Possibly a bad injector/injector connection. Try moving the injectors around and see if that helps.

Are you sure it is fuel and not oil? That many miles and if the valve seals haven't been done, it could cause the residue on the plugs.

My next guess would be a bad coolant temp sensor.

a bad injector connection on 3 of 4 of the injectors? It has crossed my mind that maybe the injectors were bad and stuck open. I plan on doing a compression test to ensure the head gasket is good (just to be safe) and I'm going to recheck the plugs tonight. so i'll repost after I check everything for an update

yea i'm almost positive its fuel. i'll recheck tonight an post an update. and that would be my next guess is a bad coolant temp sensor for her fans. where is that located anyway? I havent gotten under the hood to look for that yet but I havent located it in engine diagrams on this site yet either.
