Ocasional CEL with misfire but fire on all coil

Before I get started would like to say this is the most informative site for the DSM's. Got all of my problems resolved just by SEARCHING!
But yesterday took to neighborhood market, turned off and went inside (its about a mile from home). Got back in car drove across intersection to another store turned off, came back out started CEL came on sounded like it was a 2cyl!
Limped home ,let cool pulled each wire to check for spark and all had spark.
Plugged all wires back in, started car ran normalwith no cel. Test drove with no problems. about a hour later it does it again runs like that the rest of night with and without cel.
Woke up this morning to a normal Tsi AWD. This is my 3rd DSM 13yrs.so i know a little but am not a pro.
Also Unless your DSM has been sitting in climate controlled building since new, DO A BOOST LEAK TEST!!! MY Tsi makes me smile every gearshift since fixing all those leaks.
 
Are you using the stock coil pack or coil on plug because sometimes the coil on plug messes up the firing.

Still all stock ignition. Ran test on coil packs, and one is out of range. will see if i can find a used one monday. Drove this morning ran perfect, twenty minutes later cel and misfire. Hopefully a coil pack swap is what i need. thanks
 
Please read the fault code from the ECU. It has an idea of what's wrong and the first place to look is at what it's trying to tell you. It might be the coil pack or it might be something else really causing the problem even if the coil pack is measuring bad.
 
^ Yes anytime the CEL comes on, check that FIRST before anything else. Thats the car telling you whats wrong with it.
