correction im refering to my cps not cas. Done with my rebuild and have baout 300 miles on the car and i always had a little idle problem due to a mix between my cams and throttle body issues. Normally i just put the cas in and if it idles bad i flip it, but since mine is alreayd idleing bad either way i put it it seems the same and i dont want ot continue driving with my cas 180 out. So without a logger is there any way to check? i beleive on the 1gs you can put it a tdc and put the big side up not sure about 2g's though? Its a 97 gst

Not sure about the 2g's but on the 1g's there's a notch on the end of it. Like one end is smooth, flip it around and the other end will have an indention. And at TDC, it should be pointed towards the front. Hope that helps.

The manual shows a seal between the end cover and the housing. With the cover removed is where they show the paint on the CAS cylinder. You might be able to see it with the sensor removed from the housing but I'm just going by the manual since I don't own one.

on the 97-99's im actually refering to the cps though, and after thorough searching this question has been asked a 100 times and no one has ever answered it. Everyone just says whatever way your car runs better, but mine along with others runs just about the same eiter way. I;m pretty sure there is no paint or markings on mine or anyone elses sensor.

Well, hopefully someone can answer this then so we will all know for the tons of other people that might ask. Then we can tell em....search for it bi*ch!!! Lol.

Again I can only go by what the factory says. Have you taken the cover off and looked?

The cover is #8, the gasket #9 and the paint would be on #10.

The alignment is shown as:

Yea i took mine off there is no paint, i also have after market cams and i went looked on stock cams just to see if they had a marking , buit couldnt find one. So its ###### my fault for getting paint rubbed off, but for future people with same problems i started narrowing down symptoms. With the larger side covering the actual sensor at tdc i have inconsistent idle and low gas mileage, but car never kills when driving. With cas 180 of that at tdc which is when the small side of the magnet is covering three fourths of the sensor i have higgher but consistent idle and car turns off when puchhing in clutch quickly to decel. Hope that might help someone i will add more info as i fool around some more.

heres a link from my photobucket that shows how it should be at tdc
