Car takes a while to start?

The car will start 1st time after sitting all night so its nothing to do with heating up correct? Also when i turn the key it will click but not turn over. When it does turn over it seems hesitant. But every time it does turn over it starts.

The fuel pump o-ring got damaged, and the pressure leaked off pretty fast. When the o-ring is good the pressure leaks off slowly, and builds up fast, when starting.

This guy is right, did you replace a fuel pump recently?

Okay, When you try to start the car does it make a click click click click noise? or tick tick tick. Alot a times the relay for the ignition switch, when it goes bad it will give off a click noise.(For the relay functions just like a switch) When you sit in the driver set to your lower right, where your right foot is. The panel that covers your ECU that is where the relay is. If you have a person put their ear there they should hear a click noise. When your trying to turn the car over.

I have not. Well I just got the car so idk when the fuel pump was put in..Ill take a look at the noise today its making for sure.

I noticed that the ground to the starter is good and tight but the ground to the car was hardly snug at all? Anything to do with it?

This sounds like the same problem I am having. I will turn the key and it will make a single click noise everytime I turn the key. Sometimes it will start on the first others it will take more. It wouldn't turn over at all this last time. Any word on what is going on here?

Is the clicking loud? Kinda sounds like a the pinion on the start kicks out but doesn't turn over... (dead battery)

I know this sounds dumb, but make sure your battery cables are REALLY EFFING TIGHT. I've had a few which acted up like this. Car would just click because it couldn't draw the power it needed to start the car, even though all other electricals worked perfectly.

Clean terminals, tighten cables, check grounds, lather, rinse, repeat, and you should be good to go :thumb:

If not, I would also move onto the ignition switch.

Sounds like it could be a couple of things . first i'd check the mpi relay under the radio part of the console to see if it is sending signal. then id check the fuel pump . kinda sounds like it's loosing it's prime while it sets over night . then once it starts it has enough pressure in the system to fire right back up.

Heres an update. I replaced the battery and the starter. Its doing the same exact thing. I can here and feel the starter hitting the flywheel. The only way I can get it to start up is if I hook the batery up to another car. The car drives completely fine once started though. I assume this is a wiring issue. What all should I check?

now hook another car up to your car just the possitive side and then do just the negative side. which ever one will allow you to start the car you know that that is the wiring with the problem. if it starts when you hook up negative you know it the negative wiring and iff it starts with the possitive then you have a bad connection on the possitive wires.
