car need WOT to start

good day,

my girlfriend has an 420a 1998, but it does not start if the throttle body is not in WOT.

i clean all the throttle body and now i only need maybe a 10% open throttle body to engine start but if i left the accelerator the car turn off.

what can be? i think is the cam sensor or IAC but i need some suggestions.

Check vacuum lines\electric choke if applicable.

You can try checking the tps. Or the idle switch something like that maybe

Fully remove the throttle body and clean it with a rag soaked with carb cleaner. Remove the iac and clean in that area also. Clean the seat of the iac too. Then disconnect the battery terminals and rub them together to reset the pcm's adaptive memory.

Don't think that 420A's have IAC's being a Dodge motor.

True though - sounds like vacuum leaks all over .. Once you get it started, does it idle and run normally from there on?

or, got a fuel pump with a bad check valve losing the pressure in the line until it finally fires up. ECU is tired...

..almost tons of things that can cause a hard start.

the problems is fixed...

IAC dont works, I replace with new one,

the reason that the car need WOT to start is the coolant temperature sensor. i put new one an now works perfectly.

Check for vacuum leaks and open the throttle body up and spray some carb clean down there.
