2G Car struggles to start!

So I have a 2g eclipse gst. And just the other day my brother drove it on the freeway pretty hard. Now recently its been struggling to start. It starts turning over but then it makes a loud whining noise. Then I have to do try and start it again. I've also noticed a bit loss of power when I drive it.

Spark fuel and compression, could be boost leaks, a lot of thing there lots of threads here on issues starting.

No it doesn't smell like gas at all. It makes a whining noise. Like if the turbo was just spinning. Kind of like the sound of a hand power driller tool if that makes any sense. It doesn't do it all the time. It goes away for a few days and all of a sudden it starts doing it again.

Take off the starter & have it checked out & see if it tests fine.Might be a fuel pump going out or a clogged fuel filter or a clogged fuel pump sock.Just a few suggestions.Hopefully this might help.

The starter is the source of that noise.

You need to check it and make sure its bolts are secured well and it is properly aligned. If it is, then you will need to replace it soon. That sound comes from the solenoid on the starter not properly throwing the starter drive gear onto the flywheel/flexplate teeth. The starter then just spins wildly without any resistance and doesn't turn the engine over. BTW, when you hear that noise, don't hold the key there, you'll burn up the starter motor.
