What led you to believe head gasket also. Seems odd on a new motor.

Thought the same thing too, but as I was driving the car a few days ago I changed the oil after the initial break in. And noticed the cap had that frothy look to it and the oil cap had a slight tint of green around it. Changed the oil and cleaned the cap, didn’t think too much of it at the time but I thought it was odd. What led you to believe head gasket also. Seems odd on a new motor.
YesSo the first picture is with the actuator still attached?
I was going to ask about if both sides spun but figured if they didnt you would have had a ton of smoke from oil but I guess not.And upon further inspection I found that the hotside turbine wheel moves freely and has a lot of play.
Stuck my phone in there and hit record because it’s a little tight to see with the 02 housing. and decided to spin shaft to see if it rotated from the the cold side. It didnt spin at all , and after I stuck my hand in there to see if it did, it moves all over the place.
Safe to say that it was the turbo all along.
Would have figured it out sooner if I had taken the 02 housing off originally like you guys said
Thanks for all the feedback and help.
Still relatively new to the dsm platform with lots to learn. Now I gotta source a new turbo
I can’t tell for sure, only way to know is to take it all apartSo the shaft broke?
Well if both sides spun independently that shaft is most likely broken or that compressor wheel is no longer attached to the shaft.I can’t tell for sure, only way to know is to take it all apart
