how can i check to see if my wastegate is stuck open, i have a 16g turbo.

Not sure on that but did you do a boost leak test.

yes i did.fixed all the leaks i had and still not boost.
vacs at 21 at idle and around 24-26 deceleration

Vacuum lines all ok? How is the turbo, any shaft play?

yeah. i even replaced the turbo because the other 16g had all kinds of shaft play.
i think it has to do with the wastegate, just dont know to check it.

internal or external? you can put a vacuum/boot line to it and you should be able to see it operate

Hook it to a compressed air source and then a vacuum source. Under vacuum it will close the wastegate. Under compressed air the wastegate will open.

I had this problem the other day and it turned out that the pin holding the wastegate arm to the compressor housing had fallen out; try visually inspecting that and making sure the pin is there.

Try taking the actuator arm off of the flapper and see if the flapper moves freely

Do vacuum first then compressed

Just use compressed air and see if the actuator rod moves to open the flapper. They are spring loaded and should close the flapper as soon as you remove the positive pressure from it.

Try taking the actuator arm off of the flapper and see if the flapper moves freely

All the info given to you is for an internal wastegate.

By hooking pressure to the wastegate you can see if it moves like the others have already stated. You can also check to make sure that the flapper door is moving freely like I stated here. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/mai...ernal-wastegate-stuck-open.html#post152544548

No problem, just keep in mind how they work and you'll be okay. The flapper door has to be closed to build boost. As you reach maximum boost which is dictated by the wastegate spring the wastegate will start to open the flapper door to allow the exhaust gasses to bypass the turbine wheel (exhaust wheel) to keep the turbo from overboosting. Make sense?

So a stuck open wastegate/flapper door can cause no boost to be made.
And a stuck closed wastegate/flapper door can cause an overboost problem.
