Car can't get into any gears w/engine "on"

I was driving along as normal, then when i put my car into second gear i feel a slight vibration on the clutch pedal and then all of a sudden it won't go into any gears, it was stuck in neutral.
With the engine "off" I can normally switch to any gears I want but with the engine "on" I won't be able to get into any gears at all.

After waiting for a couple of hours, I went to test my car again and with the engine "on" i was able to put it in gear like normal and drive it home.

Now whenever i step onthe clutch with the engine "on" it makes a grinding noise coming from the tranny area.....wtf??



Is this a tranny or clutch problem? maybe something else?

It happened to my brother's DSM and it was the clutch disk failure. the springs popped out of the disks. replaced it with ACT now it's all good

can i just put the spring back in? or new clutch?
i was bout to order an ACT 2100.....

do i need new clutch? because i dont' even know if i need one because i can still drive it sometimes......

You can drive it like that. I did for little bit.

Also, ACT is not nessasary. It's just a precoution so the same thigns won't happen again. ACT uses only one spring and rest are rubber replacements.

but i can't really drive it "drive it" because it won't let me get in gears at all after a while, so i don't really wanna be stuck in traffic or anything.

what is that grindin noise that i hear when i press on the clutch pedal? its coming from the tranny area......???

Jesus, STOP. The car's broken. Continuing to try and drive it is only ratcheting up the repair costs. Time for the shop.

Im thinking i have a Bad TOB, thats probably what i hear when the clutch is pressed down.
This is my first manual car, so can someone explain how this affect my gears going in with car off and gears not going in with car off?
