I've soaked em in WD-40 and i just can't get the bolts off of my cat flange...does anyone know the exact size of this bolt, or does anyone have any other techniques to getting them off..how did other people get their stock exhaust off...if i can't get it, im gonna have to call a muffler shop and have them do it..thanks

I had to take mine to a shop and have it cut off. Those bad boys were not trying to come off at all.

did you just have them cut it off and you installed it, or did you have them do the whole thing, cuz i've been callin around and it sounds like its gonna be around 100 for a shop to install it for me...

Well i just had them put it on since they were already under there. They only charged me $50 for everything. it was a smaller shop.

use PB blaster or some type of penetrating oil. WD-40 is just a lubricator.

OH, and a fcuk'n pipe wrench ;) :thumb:

On a side note, if it wont come off and you do end up needing to take it to a shop; why not just upgrade to a bigger DP(you can get a punishment racing DP for like 130$ shipped) which is only 30$ more then the exhaust shop might charge, and then remove the entire exhaust in one piece?? (this is what I did)

Yeah- I had the same problem with removing my DP.... Use PB for a day or two... before you drive some place, when you stop for food, whatever.... I used it every day for my drive to work- when I left work- when i went to go grab somethin- basically any time I used the car- then every night before bed.... after about 3 days of driving it with that stuff penetrating and getting in there... the bolts came off like they were just put on there yesterday...

well im taking it to the performance shop in town where i got my BOV installed...they are amazing..incredible prices and really good work, nice people..anyway, i called a few other muffler shops and they said about 100 bucks...but here they are doing it for me for 30 bucks for everything...he had also told me before that he could make me a dp for between 20-40..so i might call and have him do that while its in there...anyway, thanks for the help...

OH JEEZ taking the stock exhaust off of my was one of the hardest things ive ever done, i eventually torched the bolts and they just melted away, it was kind of scarey i had my dad stand next to me with the hose just incase my car caught on fire hahaha, it worked thou.

ya those bolts arent meant to come off, I agree with buck on this one drop the entire exhuast, and you can work much easier like that, worst case scenario: grab a hacksaw and have at it for 15 minutes..

I will agree that by far the easiest way to fix this would be to drop the entire exhaust from the car, and then proceed to cut it apart. You can always buy new nuts and bolts so it'll be easier next time. I just slid the whole thing out and tucked it into the garage (still in one piece) until I eventually threw it all away. screw stock!

I tired pb and impact and a cutting wheel and everything. I ended up using a torch to heat them up and then after a little impacting, then hammering on a smaller socket sized and impacting it, it finally came off, then the back part wouldnt come off at all so i cut the back section off.
