Can p/s a/c removal cause abnormal wear?

I have searched and did not find a straight forward answer. My car keeps throwing the belt repeatedly and I am pretty sure it is due to the a/c compressor. So my question is by removing this will it cause an abnormal wear on my crank pulley or anything? And i know its not much but what gains have people on here seen by removing this stuff? thanks

It shouldn't... If you keep the P/S but remove the A/C (or vise versa) be sure to get the appropriate smaller sized belt. Someone can chime in with the belt part number/size.

But maybe the belt is too tight. Or one of the pulleys has failed or is offcentered, causing you to throw belts.

im not just wanting to remove one or the other. i am wanting to remove both so i do not have to worry about it anymore. And also under boost there known to throw the belts alot.

I have removed ac and I have no problems so far. I was going to remove PS but everyone says that its extremely hard to turn. Its different having a car with no PS than having a car that has removed PS.

A little search, can go a lot of way! Short term you should not have a problem. Long term, you can start to hurt more than anything, your comfortability, with no a/c or p/s.

There is plenty of threads on 2GNT.COM that should have your answer to A/C OR P/S... just have search. I found a 113 threads dicussing it.

It is up to perference ONLY. You can remove it and if you do not like it, then you can replace it all back. It will however remove some load on the engine being it with the A/C. You will however not be able to corner around anything without P/S. The links again, were to show work if you plan on doing it.

I have both removed with no ISSUE

Also EGR/EVAP DELETED

ALL hardware for p/s and a/c = 40lbs (roughly)

Make sure to put a "gravity fed" res to rack and pinion to allow lubrication since ours are not manual racks. Gravity fed will allow air pockets to work their way out this way too!

You will however not be able to corner around anything without P/S if you are a 12 year old girl. If you decent arm strength, you can corner fine.

I had the same symptoms of my belts popping when i first bought my car about 5 years ago, so removed the p/s a/c. Still running fine with no problems. Turning was a little rough at first, but you get use to it really quickly, and if you have any kind of speed, you can barely tell. Only downside, is parking sometimes is annoying, and I wouldn't recommend removing AC if you live in an area that has a lot of traffic.

Sorry I had to. Actually a lot of people who have tried to drive my car, do have problems turning, but it is something that you do get use to in a few weeks.

-P/S removed (all hardware) with the in/out looped at the rack

I have no issues with anything. Driving without power steering is not difficult unless you are at a dead stop. I'm 5'9" 150lbs and I have no problems controlling the car. I can't say in terms of power increase since I also added a s20g running 15psi and tuned on MS at the same time. I imagine it didn't hurt though. If you want to remove these things, don't just pull the belt off, make sure to remove the A/C compressor, P/S Pump and all tubing and hoses. If you just pull the belt it is going to be a bi*** and a half trying to force all of that power steering fluid through a non-moving pump.
