Has anyone removed there a/c on there n/t? if yeah, what size of belt did u use? part number? and how did u run the belt? i am removing my a/c to install a rather large turbo, and to save weight, and i have been trying to contemplate ways this will work corectly. anyone got any good ideas, or actually done this?

I have been thinking about this for a while
the belts are 5 rib but as far as size I think that a 380 will work nice. if you buy the belt from auto zone just save the recipt and take it back if it dosent work
If the 380 is too big go with a 360 or 350
If the belt is to small go with a 400
I also have an AFX udp and I know the stock belt size wont work, if I remember I got a 420 size.
Yes if you remove the ac THAT BELT will have to go BUT you also use the same belt to run your PS and I will NOT DRIVE without power steering.
No a/c is what I am going to do next. :dsm:

yeah, how do u plan to have the belt run? just a/c pulley to crank pulley? what about the tension pulley? just gona bypass that? how will u get the belt on and tighten it? i was thinking have the belt do a kinda "v" patern between the two, but then there would be the ribs riding on the flat surfave, guess maybe i could talk to a machine shop and have them grind it or find a pulley to mach it. but who knows, if u have any good ideas i'd really like to hear it.

just run the belt from
UDP crank to P/S crank
They make a tensioner fo the 420a W/O a/c get that, and you will be alright
you could also get the belt for the N/T W/O ac, so you wont have to guess about what belt size you will have to use.
The only reason I was saying to guess about what belt size to use is because, I have the AFX UDP and it is a different size belt than stock.

I am going to buy a new UDP, not sure which, mybe obx or aem, or unorthidox.

I did this on my car because the A/C compressor locked up on it and I didn't have the money to replace it right away, but I wanted power steering. I just removed the A/C compressor and tensioner pulley and bracket. Go to Autozone and tell them you need a 5 rib 40" belt. You can tighten the belt by loosening the P/S pump and using a pry bar to pull the belt tight. Just be sure the the P/S pump stays straight or it will want to throw the belt. Anyway, that worked on mine. :thumb:

The same exact thing happend to me and I did this too. I just marked my old one the length the new one had to be for an estimate (so it only went to the Power steering pully fromt he crank), then I went to store and bought new belt. The belt I got was for a like some toyota or something, it doesnt really matter it's just a belt. Not too hard to do you'll need a few sockets and you'll have to get the engine in right space to get to the power steering bolts to loosen them. :dsm:
