Can anyone tell me what block this is (6or7)?

That number doesnt sound familiar....was there a stamp on the front right side on a metal tag? Ill check the number tomorow and see if it comes up, I would think it was a 7 bolts because all the the 6bolt letters are earlier than n and p im pretty sure. I think its a 7 bolt. Look at the oil pan if there is one or just count the bolts that hold the flywheel or flexplate on!!

The guy I got it from says its a JDM 6bolt but it has 7bolt style main caps (all connected instead of the normal "suitcase handles"). Is there any truith in JDM 6bolts having 7bolt style mains?

You cant just throw a set of main caps on any motor from another motor. They are and every engine is machined from the factory. you cannot mix them up on your car. They just wont work. You can use your finger on the inside edge where the main bearing goes. The cap and block meet smoothly. If you switch the caps on your block they would not line up. Bearings would not seet. you woul not be able to bolt the bottom end together. The only way I have heard of people swapping the mains on blocks is on v8 engines. And they are oversized rebores of the main caps/block. They machine them together so they all meet up and mate togther well. This still doesnt work that well for longevity of your engine. But you CANNOT just take main caps from a different block and toss it on your block. Wont work, and if for some reason they do kinda match up your bearings will be the first to go.
