First off I had a van come in to the shop today knocking like crazy. I pulled the pan off thinking i would find all kinds of metal shavings but all i found was what looked like rust pieces. So i put the pan back on and replaced the filter and put new oil in it. I started it up and it purred like a kitten.(fyi its my bosses van). Well I wanted to drive it just to make sure it was ok, he said the previous mechanic told him the converter was clogged and that it was safe to drive. I get back to the shop and theirs smoke rolling from under the hood. I pop the hood to find a small fire on the manifold in front of the radiator(2003 kia sedona). I extenguish the fire to find oil all over the engine cover and the dip stick popped out. The only thing i can think of is the exhaust got backed up, causing a extreme amount of crancase pressure and heat, and the escaping oil caught fire. Thankfully no one was hurt and nothing was destroyed.

Everytime I have seen a clogged cat..The car ran like total crap, no power and such..Also If the car has been drivin for a while with clogged cat..The cat will be glowing red...

Never seen it cause any more problems that that..
