My son showed me this DIY gear holder and while I think it LOOKS hick as hell, it works and that is all that matters.

That won't work on a dsm. The cam teeth don't sit symmetrically opposite each other.

I've got a cam lock but I've never found much need for it. Slightly more convenient. On a v6 car like 6g motors the dohc likes to jump. Would be nice on one of those.
