420A Door Lock Ignition

My car door used to not lock with the key in the ignition. I locked my keys in the car yesterday (scary how easy it is to break into these cars), they were in the ignition and realized that something must have broken when I got back in and tested it out.
Anyone deal with this before, know how to fix it?

After installing a turbo timer I locked the car a half dozen times with the engine running and the keys in the ignition. I'm a slow learner.

When you have the key in the ignition with the door open, do you hear the beeping key reminder chime as usual?

On my 3G I can not lock myself out. If the key is in the ignition, the door locks do not work. Is it not the same on the 1 and 2G?

Honestly I dont trust the alarm systems on these cars

If equipped there is a factory alarm setting to look the doors after 5 minutes of the keyless lock being used to unlock the car. Its fairly common that if I hit unlock then start working on the car, the car will re lock itself.

I've never NOT had a 2g that would keep itself from locking the keys inside the car. Infact to this day I roll down the window slightly if I know I need to get back in the car, because the alarm will clock itself when im not expecting it.

I dont have the alarm settings process memorized on how to change the settings, you will have to search it
