Buy or Not.

Hey guys I'm new to the forum. My question is , there is a 1993 GS for sale for 1200. The guy whos selling it says it has a new trans and clutch. He also says that he knows someone who can get him a turbo motor for 1400 and the install would be less than 800. Do any of you think I should buy it and put a new motor in it or should I just rebuild the motor and turbo later? Also if I did drop in the turbo motor would it just bolt right up or would I need alot of extra parts and modifications to get the motor to fit? Thnx for any feedback in advance.

no really.. it's definately not going to cost 800 bucks to swap motors.. look at pictures of a non turbo.. and then look at the turbo motor.. notice the timing belt to be on different sides? there is some major fabbing to make the engine fit right. it usually isnt worth the time. :laugh: trust me.. spend 3000 bucks on a GS to put a 4g63 in and still have FWD? boo!

spend the 3k-4k on a used tsi AWD or GSX and you'll have the motor, AWD, and dont have to wait!

trust me.. look! it's worth the wait when you look in your driveway and know you're came like that from the factory...

its a 1g not a 2g and it would prob take less then 800$ to turn it into a turbo

$1400 for a turbo motor is kinda high, unless it completly rebuilt with no miles. u will need alot more than just the turbo motor to make it work.

This is definitely NOT a good deal! You can buy a nice turbo 1G for under $2k and it will be nicer than any converted vehicle!
