tranny goes into limp mode when it gets warm turn it off and back on it works for 1 time through the gears then goes back in the limp mode. tranny only has about 10,000 miles on rebuild with trans lab kit converter was also redone to raise the stall speed so you can get boost from a stop. it worked fine when I quit daily driving it in 2006:banghead:

This may seem odd, but I was able to fix my limp mode by creating a "grounding kit"
(1) attach a wire from alternator to frame
(2) attach a wire from negative battery terminal to frame

I was throwing the P1750 code and (not sure why it worked), but it's worked flawlessly for a couple months now. Like you, I could start out in limp mode, turn the car off/on while/after driving and it would go away until it cooled down.

For a couple bucks, it's worth trying yourself

Had a used tcu put in then sent it in to have it rebuilt. Worked perfect
Before I had the translab kit and stall converter put in.

Tried the grounding kit for shits and giggles:hmm: didn't work. If I stop and turn it off and then on. It will go thru the gears once, shifts nice and hard but won't go into overdrive. So I tried the homemade switch box. Only shifts 1st and overdrive with it. :hmm: any ideas

Check your Pulse Generators. There are two of them. They plug into the same location. You will find them held in with 1-10mm bolt each on the passenger end of the transmission. They should be magnetic. If these are bad/cracked you will get the problem you are seeing.

Wonder if the two large multi wired connectors got switched when the tranny was replaced back in. This will easily cause limp mode.

Happened to me on a 1.8L automatic. I traced wire color codes and saw that one connector's code didn't match the receptacle's wire code. Made the switch and all was good.

Thanks ill check the pulse generators on the transmission next. The plugs were plugged in the right places, was the first thing I checked cause I've read about people plugging in the wrong spots. How does a guy go about checking the pulse generators or is it easy to tell if they're damaged visually?:hmm: is there a say to bypass these?

Only code transmission is throwing is a vehicle speed sensor code. Is there even one on the 1g's. if so it's a pain in the butt to find LOL

It could be that you have a bad shift solenoid if I'm not mistaken its 1st Y on O on, 2nd is Y, 3rd is both off, and OD iS O on. Y = yellow wire and O is orange wire. You can check these through a volt meter on the TCU side of the plug at the valve body plug at the transmission it should have 3 wires, Blue, Yellow, and orange.
The wire colors may be backwards but the order of on off I'm pretty sure is right someone correct me if I'm wrong. Basically if they don't work something like that then one is bad.

The speed sensor is part of the speedometer. Pulse generators or anything else sensor wise isnt going to matter when you are using a homeade shift box so those arent your problem.

If the solenoid was bad why would it shift normally through all the gears fine before limp mode. I ran the numbers on the tcu and it says its for a 91 3000gt/stealth a/t n/t. But the tcu pinout are the exact same wire for wire, think this would make a difference. I'm going to pick up 4 2 amp barrel diodes and wire up the kiggly shift mod and see if this help. I have read a code 24 will throw it into limp mode as well cause the reed in the speedometer cluster goes bad. Hopefully the kiggly mod bypasses all this crap.

So was looking over transmission harness and noticed the solenoid wires have been cut and repaired. Gonna look for any more wiring goofs.

Would it hurt to check before going through the hassle of the kiggly wiring mod? If they r both good then wire it up. You can use a bolt meter to check them super simple. If you did a homemade shift box then it bypasses everything and just uses the 3 solenoids on the valve body....get it? You should have had all 4 gears with the shift box no matter what the TCU wants. Unless its internal problem in the Trans

Ill give her a try and update it tonight. Thanks for the info. Hope it's not internal i just had the transmission rebuilt less then 10k miles ago.

So I pulled the codes off the tcu this time not the ecu:aha:. Which would have been a smart idea in the first place, code 52 and 82. Which says to check the pulse generators connection and the generators them selves. Went to the local parts store this morning and they had no idea what I was talking about. So I'm gonna try the dealership tomorrow and replace them. I'd like to use my shifter and not switches so ill update again. By the time I'm done I could have done a 5spd awd swap with the same money spent.ROFL

Stay auto you won't regret it! I have some spares laying around if you can't find any or someone closer with some.
There are also a couple of sites you can order parts from try google searching w4a33 pulse generators.

Thanks for the help you guys, ended up just doing the kiggly shifter mod. Car shifts nice and firm and I can pull any gear to any rpm. Just picked up the barrel diodes and spst switch from radio shack. Cost me about an hour and $10 to do the kiggly mod. Any questions on how to do it on a 1g just ask. There's not any detailed write ups about it. Gonna post one some in a new thread.:hellyeah:
