Ok guys well I went on craigslist looking for some parts to finish my 2GB conversion on my 95 GS-T and I went to look at the parts car and wound up taking the whole thing home LOL. So I bought my 3rd DSM (red 97 GS-T) on Monday and took it home last night. Cost me $450 :D no motor though. LOL. But I was really excited when he told me its already wired for a 6 bolt, which is what I had been wanting to do with my 95 GS-T. Well I'm trying to decide on what I'm going to put in it and about how much its going to cost me. I'm definitely in no hurry to get this done, so I'm going to save up some money and do it right. I'm not looking to make a fully fledged racecar, but something I can have some fun with every now and again. Ok so heres the story with the car. The guy bought the car off of this guy who had done a lot of work to it 6 bolt swap, upgraded everything, and 4 days later timing belt snapped and trashed the motor, he was then sick to his stomach and just wanted the car gone, which is why I got such a good deal. So I'm aiming to make probably somewhere between 350-400 hp. I just want a fun little streetcar. So about how much am I looking to spend and what do you guys suggest in parts to buy. here are some pictures of it.

Here is my suggested list of mods for 350-400hp. If this is going to be a street car, I would highly suggest using a 4g64 block.

Eagle Rods
Manley or Wiseco Pistons
Street bearings, not race.
Walbro 255
Denso 660's or FIC 750's (Unless you want to go E-85)
VRSF Front Mount
ARP head studs
Stock composite head gasket.
Evo3 would work but a 20g would be my first choice.
Reconditioned head, maybe valvetrain upgrade but that's not 100% needed.
Maybe some 272 cams but they all cut torque which sucks for a street car.
Link V3
BS elimination and things like that
And last but not least, I personally would AWD swap that thing before any motor ever went in it. That's up to you though.

Your probably looking at $2500-3000 without cams, machine work, and the AWD swap. Probably closer to $4500-5000 for a bullet proof, definitely 400hp, bad ass street car with lots more room to grow. That's not including the interior which might end up costing a good chunk if you want race seats, new stereo, etc.

Edit: Great deal BTW! I paid considerably more cash than that for an AWD shell. People in CO are nuts with prices.

i would agree with above...i have read here and there on 6 bolt or 7 bolt...but that's up you on that....not bad on car price, it's in good shape from the photos...price wise...depends on what you are going to start with, but a rough price i would go with is between 17 and middle 1800, not including turbo or AWD swap....you can correct me, if i'm off by any...best wishes on the build!

LOL that is why I asked first. I might just put it on the 95 since its just going to stay stock until I build this one up, then I'm going to make that one a drag car, thinking about going with a tube chassis and RWD on it. Not sure yet still toying with ideas, but for now its my daily when my N/A decides to act up. I'm thankful for the advice you guys are giving me, its definitely appreciated.
