hey guys, i bought a 95 eagle talon tsi awd last winter. it has been in the shop ever since. make a long story short the latest thing i found out it needs is a turbo because mine is blowing oil big time. heres the situation. i am fiending to drive my first turbo awd dsm which i have wanted since before i owned my first car. i really want a small (quality) 16g turbo but only have like a $200 budget. i want to do it right the first time and i want to get the most out of my car. i realize im opening myself up to all kinds of criticism by posting this thread but im desperate and need some suggestions so here goes. what would you guys do in this situation?:banghead:

Ok budget 14b turbo, in your price range 200 bucks for a 16g maybe in good condition.
Get a 14b for now and wait until you have more funds for something else, thats really good advice looking at your low budget.

You realize these two statements are completely contradictory...right? :)

If you are limited to $200, you're best bet is to find a good used 14b or 16g somewhere, and use whatever is leftover (if any) for the gaskets and other small crap you will need to get it bolted on.

200$ budget won't even buy you a cheap shit ebay turbo.

My best advice would to be quit doing something you do everyday until you can afford the turbo. Stop on the way to work for a Red Bull? Stop it, Smoke? Stop it/cut back. Eat out everyday on your lunch break? Bring a sandwich and some chips or something.

When my first turbo went out I just started bringing my lunch to work. Was saving like 5-7$ a day by not bringing any cash and skipping that dollar menu @ lunch.

the reason my budget is so low is because i lost my job and have actually quit smoking due to it. thanks though. im not exactly proud i lost my job but thats the situation and i cant change what happened. hoping to get something soon but i wanted to get the car driveable before snow flies so i can get some fun out of it before it has to go back into storage. didnt want to buy 2 or 3 different turbos just to drive it which is what i meant by do it right the first time. im aware i can just rebuild my 14b but didnt want to. your right sideways. just going to have to penny pinch until i get that 16g. just didnt know if there was something out there i was missing but thank you.

Talk to austin cole his Username is pj91gsx. He rebuilds turbos, and has great prices. You cant beat it. Get your 14b rebuilt by him, and you will be under your budget.

I see ## already running a 14b so id say rebuild it otherwise if you were running a t25 i have a couple laying around id let go for dirt cheep just to free up space.
