so i recieved lots of free stuff from a buddy of mine and im going to build up a 6 bolt AWD.

.020 over block fresh from mach. shop
ported head
arias 8.5:1 pistons
turned crank

now i will be adding:
eagle h-beams
manley ss valves, ti ret., springs
brian crower 272/272 stage 3
SMIM by someone reputable
+ all seals, bearings etc.

this car is NOT going to be a DD, but rather a weekend warrior/highway queen, maybe some get together cruises. my goal is a 650-700hp motor, which puts ~500 to the wheels.

i did some calc. on garretts website (rough estimates) at 30psi and found the gt4082 seemed like a good choice, especially since there is more potential for it. i was just curious if this is too big of a turbo or not. the gt3782 seemed well fitted, but with less room for more boost. lag isnt really too much of a concern, besides ill be running anti-lag and a studder box. any thought/other turbo options are welcome. im taking my time on this as im in no hurry, just want to do it right the first time.

I'd say a gt35 if you only want 500 with potential for more. Why endure the lag of a 37 or gt40 when you can get the same goals and way more with a 35.

haha i have pretty much the same set up and goals.... I ended up geting a garret gt3582r

how do you like it? im going with the gt 3582r with the .83 a/r hotside, 1.06 is way to big and .63 is going to choke me too much up top.

With a goal of 650-700hp, you may want to think of choosing a different set of rods. Many people have taken that far in terms of horsepower, but I'd personally choose a different set of rods (I-beam manley, Carillo, Pauter, etc) if your going to try and push that much HP just for sake of mind.

Please note he actually wants ~500 whp, which shouldn't be anywhere close to 650-700 crank hp even on an AWD. An auto maybe, but not a manual.

I'd go with a .68 A/R T4 or a .82 T3 housing. Other options to look at include a 6152/6169 from PTE, which is the same compressor housing just with either a T350 turbine wheel or a P-trim turbine wheel instead of the GT wheel. They're starting to offer them in ball bearing trim as well, so it comes down to cost. If you want to try other companies, the new Borg-Warner turbos seem to be doing well although. A S258 with a T3 .85 A/R housing can be considered, or even the larger S36x series.

Just throwing ideas out there.

thanks for the replies guys. im checking out all of my options here, so any input is always appreciated.:thumb:
