Boost solenoid

When I purchased my car the boost solenoid had been removed and the wastegate was just running vaccum off the j pipe I found a boost solenoid to replace it with but Is it worth replacing or is it just fine running off the jpipe

No its not need. some people do the vaccum line delete setup. check out the diagram

Get a boost controller instead of the solenoid.

Right off the j pipe off the turbo there should be a nipple and just route it back to the wastgate.
