Boost leak?

Few days ago i took my car to wal-mart, it worked fine but on my way back during a red light i noticed my car wasnt sounding right, when the light turned green i tried accelerating and my boost gauge shoots up even though i'm barely applying any gas and the turbo sounds like its spooling but not getting any boost and i cant seem to even get passed 40mph as well as the rpms dropping so low when idling to the point the car will turn off. Possible boost leak?

Very possible! Sounds like it's time to do a boost leak test.

Absolutely could be a major boost leak. A Boost leak test as mentioned above would be a good first step.

Also be safe and perform a compression test as well as check your mechanical timing.
