my gst wont hold more than 6 pounds. supposed to be 16-18lbs. tore apart the front end and all my piping is connected and there is no clear source were its coming from. My clutch is pretty bad could it be that it slips enough to not put enough load on the engine? what are other common places that could cause this?:banghead:

Nope, you really just have to build the tester. It's really worth it though, trust me. You'll have boost leaks in places you didn't even think they could exist..Lol

And just because your piping is tight doesn't mean there can't be a leak at the couplers as well.

I just finished doing a boost leak test on my new motor. I Replaced all of the vacuum lines. It Still had leaks at certain places. I used Teflon tape and RTV to fix most issues as well as tightening clamps. I recommend building a boost leak tester and using soapy water to track down your leaks. Proper size vacuum line also makes a world of difference.

I can't seev what iugrad post, but just buy a flat plug pipe from home depot, the out side diamiter needs to be the same size of the turbo inlet, drill a hole and thread it to install a boost gauge to check the psi you are puting in, then dril another hole and insert a tire valve, this is where you are going to add the air,( like a tire).

Use a lot of soap and spray all around your piping and add air, dont forget to spray all around your vacuum hoses, injectors and throotle bosy.

fixed it. was a vacuum line not connected to a solenoid. also found my stock throttle body is leaking from the gaskets (which i fixed one) and also were the throttle cable hooks up, that entire assembly leaks air like crazy unless i grab the throttle part were the cable connects and press down on it hard...kind of wierd.
