ok i have had a boost leak for QUITE some time now and have been doing boost leak test weekly and now daily! I fixed the biggest one i had at the time, it was leaking out the break booster seal on the fire wall, i sealed that back up and all good, holding 12 psi strong!
The next day my bov starts fluttering, and im not holding boost again and my wideband is reading 15.8-16.3 at idle/cruise and 10.0 at wot! (but thats as far as my AEM wideband goes for rich)
So i do another boost leak and my hose to my bov was leaking alittle by the intake mani, replaced, and the seal from the turbo to the jpipe was leaking bad now! Sealed that puppy up and was working for about an hour!
NOW i have another HUGE leak some where STILL And my question is;
My Boost gauge reads im getting 18psi and will spike all the way to 22-25psi but pulls as if im not boosting at all!
I under stand its a boost leak but if my boost gauge is reading from the end of the intake mani why would it get so high but not pull at all?

What else do i need to look at that could be leaking?
Yesterday after i fix the recent leak i tested it and was filling my intake system and it held so good my boost leak test popped off!!
Im getting tired of fixing problems right after another over and over and over again! Its a F**kING headache!!

Thanks for any advice!!

hey man, i feel your pain i'm in the same situation, leak after leak after leak and then you fix those and something breaks the first time you drive the car. it is always a headache but when it is all finished you will be happy. stay strong.

My boost leak ended up being the underside of my intake manifold gasket. Have you checked that yet.

well i found quite a few and one is my AFPR.. at the top where the top where the screw is to adjust it its leaking through the threads!!! its got about a 1000 miles on it, why is it doing this and how do i fix this??

Ummm... I'm still trying to get my head around the "brake booster at the firewall" leak. :)

You could have a bad diaphram in the AFPR. Depending on the brand, you should be able to get a replacement.

EDIT:

Wait... you said at the top...where the spring sits and the adjustment comes out the top? A leaking diaphram would let fuel into the air lines, but wouldn't cause what you are describing...at least not on the AFPR's I've seen. Is there a seal between the top of the spring and the adjustment screw?

leak after leak after leak and then you fix those

That is the nature of boost leaks. Pressurized air will always take the path of least resistance; when you block that path (fix the leak), it will find the next one. The trick is to just keep after it and fix each leak correctly. Eventually the air will only have one path to follow...into your cylinders where it belongs. ;)

As for the AFPR just get some teflon tape and use it on the threads. I had one there as well and it fixed it. You are using soapy water to find them yes? If I were you, I would just replace all of the vacuum hoses, gaskets and couplers. Start fresh with new parts if they aren't already new. The intake manifold gasket is another place for massive leaks to start happening and is a pain too.

As Calan said, you just need to keep checking to make sure it's all good. Pressure test up to at least 20 psi even if you aren't going to run it. It'll make sure everything is rock solid.

Yes its at the top of the AFPR, and ya i was going to just try and use the plumbers thread tape!
And i have done a boost leak test 4 days in a row.... i alway found that my pcv valve was bad and replaced it, helped a little but still leaking some where. haha After i fixed it yesterday i had 20psi built in my intake system and it was holding well, i figured i got them all but i was completely wrong. haha And my 1500 mile old water pump is biting the dust already!!! What a Joy for me!

thanks for all the advice!
