Boost controller only way to raise boost?

I am running a Greddy 18G and Tial 44mm wastegate and bypassing the stock BCS. Do I have to have a boost controller to increase boost? Currently topping out at 7 PSI.

To control boost, you are you diverting exhaust gasses away from the turbine in the turbo. This action is caused by a wastegate opening up and either recirculating the gasses into the exhaust and bypassing the turbo, or by dumping into the atmosphere (o2 dump). By doing so, this keeps the turbine from spooling. So it is all about wastegate control. Unless you can tell me another way to control the wastegates level of diverting exhaust gasse, the answer to your question is no. With no boost controller you will be a the pressure that the wastegate spring is set at. Boost controllers do just that, control boost.

If you don't have a boost controller you will run at wastegate pressure. A boost controller allows you to run more boost then that, but not less.

Get a stiffer spring for your wastegate.

+1 to everything above. Technically you can pull the vacuum line completely off the wastegate, that'll raise boost but I don't suggest doing it. That allows the turbo to build as much boost as it can before you shift, hit the rev limiter, or blow your motor... whichever happens first.

If you don't want to spend on MBC, then get a stiffer spring for your westgage like DOHCeclipse said, But you will run only to that level of boost,
You won't be able to change boost at all.

Sure enough, opened up the wastegate and found a ~7 PSI spring. Also found out that I have a Tial 38mm wastegate. Learn something new everyday. Thanks guys.
