So I was looking into my car and checking things out, just to make sure everything is connected etc. and I remember about the free boost mod and i wanted to check and see if it was done to mine. I found the waste gate solenoid hanging down unattached to anything with no lines going to either nipple. Pics below
I also found this other "thing" up against the firewall on the driver side with a adjustment thing. Is this some type of boost controller? Also my intercooler piping right past the turbo output has a sensor wired into it. What is all of this exactly. I tried to search it but i honestly have no idea where to start, or what to call it, or anything. Thanks in advance for the help

Does the car have a manual boost controller?

Take a pic of the vacuum lines on the waist gate were do they lead to. The knob type thing on fire wall is a fuel solenoid and is not adjustable.

Well what's unplugged is the stock boost control solenoid (bcs). Which controls the boost to 12 psi and with it unplugged raises the boost to 14 psi. Also, the solenoid by the brake reservoir is for the fuel pressure to help with hot starts. Most people delete them along with the boost solenoid. Take a picture of how the waste gate is ran. Usually from the waste gate to the lower intercooler pipe is how to control pressure for the wastegate bypassing the bcs.

But how does it work? What is actually Co trolling the boost and how can I change it? T in a manual boost controller between the mystery sensor and the wastegate?
What mystery sensor are you talking about? If you install a boost controller goes from the waste gate to intercooler pipe, no other sensor in between.

Ok i guess its not a sensor, its just a bung. i thought it was a sensor. I'm mistaken

Ok, i think i figured it out finally. Its just the wrong way to bypass the boost solenoid. Its just using the pressure from the ic pipe to open the wastegate.

Yea these are the diagrams i found for the way its supposed to be done. Left is stock routing, Right is modified

OK that what I thought it's just a barb on the intercooler pipe. That's how you can bypass the bcs by using the intercooler pipe to wastegate or turbo compressor housing to wastegate. It's just running on the wastegate for boost, so whatever the wastegate spring is set for is what the boost can go to. Now that's not mhi actuator.

Well boost gauge is on the way so i wont know anything until then unfortunatly. I dont even know what the turbo is. He said it was a Garrett gt35r but it doesnt say garrett anywhere on it so its not. probably an ebay knockoff. so who know what its boosting! LOL

Oh yea, i didn't even notice that! That would be awesome. Maybe we can meet for a beer sometime and just bs. I'm new to town here and don't know anyone. Do you have any tuning experience?

No, but I know the basics of ecmlink. I'm always learning about dsms and I usually can figure it out.:thumb:
