The cruise control on my '90 Talon is not working and I have three questions about it.

1. Which fuse is the cruise control system work off of? One of the items to check in my Haynes manual was the fuse but there is no fuse labeled "cruise control" or anything.

2. I understand the cruise control works off vaccum. Are there any vaccum lines I should be specifically checking?

3. I want to soon get rid of all my emissions stuff and vaccum lines. Will my cruise control work if I do this?

Thanks in advance.

Unless im lossing it im pretty sure your cruise is all electronic no vaccum. Pop the hood and follow your throttle cables to your cruise control unit. Check to make sure its pluged in and that it is actually on your car still everyone likes to remove them for the extra room n the clean look.

My Haynes manual says that it works off vaccum. And yes it is plugged in and it is there.

My AllData says that your cruise control system is electric, no vacuum. According to it, the fuse that runs your cruise is fuse #11. In between #10 (headlight relay, horn) and #12 (turn signal, hazard flasher unit). 10, 11, &12 should all be 10A fuses. If your fuse is good it's a lengthy troubleshooting process. I can upload all the images for said troubleshooting process if you want to go through it so let me know. Good luck. :thumb:

*Edit* As far as removing vacuum lines, I have removed most of mine without affecting my cruise control. Be aware though that your FPR is operated off of vacuum and I do have an aftermarket AFPR.

The CC on a 90 is electric. In 91 they switched to a vacuum operated unit.

Alrighty, I will check that fuse. Thanks guys, and to 92 Talon AWD, could you PM me those troubleshooting images please?

I ended up emailing them because I attached the pics as files. If you would also like these pics, just pm me with your email and I'll send em out. :thumb:
*Edit* Remember, these diagrams are specifically for 1990 models. As Steve pointed out above, 1991 saw a change that incorporated a vacuum system into the CC.
