I am working on replacing the calipers on my 1g (dual piston calipers). I would like to purchase speed bleeders on for my calipers but I am running into trouble with finding the correct measurement of the thread size for the bleeder.
I went on VFAQ and read the big brake section articles. I came across this:
The white arrow points to a SpeedBleeder TM, a GREAT addition while you are upgrading. SpeedBleedersTM allow you to bleed your brakes so much faster, and guarantee no old fluid gets sucked back in.
Sizes are SB1010 (10mmx1.0) for nonBigBrake calipers (front and rear), and SB7100 (7mmx1.0) for the BigBrake calipers. However, put a boxend wrench on both the front and rear bleed screws and make sure of this, as I believe Apr 92-up cars use 7mm on the front and rear, whether they have BigBrakes or not.
According to this article the bleeders are 7mmx1.0. If I take a look on the SpeedBleeder website and use there guide to find the size of the bleeder for my vehicle I come across this. (here is the link so you can see for yourself Bleeder Application Mitsubishi)
For the eclipse 89-94 it states that the Bleeder to use is the SB1010 (10mmx1.0). It is the same for the diamante and I know they came with the big brake upgrade. It seems that every Mitsubishi uses the SB1010 (10mmx1.0) bleeder except for the Eclipse 95-99
I am also trying to find out what size bleeder to use for the 95 3000gt 4 piston caliper. it says SB1010 (10mmx1.0) on the speedbleeder website but I just want to get a second opinion before I go ahead and order components.
Thanks.
